Washing machine conditions on our "normal" surfing beaches on a few days last week, meant you had to get creative with where you looked for waves. CLICK HERE see more of this session at the gallery titled "Novelty wave"

Waves
Well the waves came back to us last week care of a solid east swell. It was so nice to have to some power under the board even if the conditions weren't great. Our beaches didn't really light up, the north-east swell was unorganised and the winds were a little funky. However there were some good sessions in between rain squalls, so if you timed it right you would have scored!

COFFS BOARDRIDERS

The Coffs Boardriders started with a bang on the 31st January. Solid turn out of surfers got amougst some fun 3-footers at Diggers beach. The big suprise was how many "super groms" signed on. Nearly 50 new club members from the ages of 5-14 now proudly call themselves "Coffs boardriders". It was classic! 50 groms smashing around in the whitewater getting pushed into waves by parents and older boardriders. Great for the development of a surfing lifestyle in Coffs.
The next club contest is on the Sunday 21st Feb starting at 7am. Super groms start around 12.

FORECAST
That swell has dissapeared for the weekend, but good news is just around the corner. Rising south swell on Tuesday and Wednesday with a chance of a another long term east swell for the rest of next week and into the weekend. You might get a grovel for the next 3 days at back beaches but better to book in some surfing time for later in the week.

Hiding behind this curtain is Johnny Craig. This wave was breaking just a few meters in front of dry rock and he had no dramas. A couple of hours later he went and surfed a safe little beach break and ended up putting the nose of his board through the sole of his foot. So he's on the couch for the next 2 weeks.... bad luck mate, you'll just have to look at this photo and remember the view till ya mend.
