Dear Commercial Members,

Your representatives have worked diligently over the last year to promote your interests as vendors as well as the interests of the MUSE community as a whole.

Four of the CMAC representatives' terms end as of October 31, 2011.  MUSE would like to offer a sincere thank you to John Kling (Digi-Trax Corporation), Lorna Green (Hyland Software), Paul Comras (Dimensional Insight) and Sara McNeil (Boston Software Systems) for their dedication and service over the last 24 months.

MUSE is inviting applications from Commercial Members to sit on the Commercial Member Advisory Committee for the 2012/2013 terms.  These are big shoes to fill but you are encouraged to consider the possibility of joining this important committee.

What are the obligations of a CMAC member?

  •  A CMAC member company must commit to a two-year term.
  •  A CMAC member company must commit to having the same individual represent the company for the duration of the term (unless a representative leaves the company, at which point a replacement can be named).
  • Bimonthly, two-hour meetings via conference call. Missing more than three meetings per year can result in being relieved of the position with CMAC.
  • One face-to-face meeting per calendar year (date and time to be determined by the CMAC committee.) The CMAC member company will be responsible for travel costs. MUSE will cover hotel costs and meals during the meetings. Please note that the next face-to-face meeting will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida.
  • The CMAC representative must be accessible to other non-CMAC Commercial Members who would like their issues brought to the CMAC meetings, and to be diligent in representing the Commercial Member Community as a whole.
  • The CMAC member company is expected to act as a leader in the MUSE Commercial Member community, and to be cognizant of MUSE's various rule and regulations and to act in accordance with them.
  • The CMAC member company is expected to act as a leader in the MUSE Commercial Member community, and to be cognizant of MUSE's various rule and regulations and to act in accordance with them.

If your company is interested serving as a member of the CMAC,

please complete the application form

by October 7, 2011.

Applicants will be notified which vendors will fill the available openings no later than October 21, 2011.

Letter from the Chair

Paul Comras

When I first agreed to write the quarterly notes from the Chair, I thought it would be a simple task.   All one had to do was recap what happened in the previous three months.  After all, there would be a short phone call each month.  We would discuss a few things, agree on fewer, and the MUSE Board would act on even fewer.  Simple!  I would then sit down at my laptop and tell you all about it. Easy!

Turns out that this was just yet another thing I underestimated.  I am very proud to be part of a committee that is so passionate about the state of the MUSE world.  The conversations are spirited, the ideas that come from the meeting are fresh, and the response from the MUSE Board is often swift and even positive.

Time has gone by quickly and it's hard to believe that this is my last note from the Chair as my term is expiring.  If you can spare one hour every other month, one day each year, care about the state of the MUSE organization and are prepared for a rewarding experience, I would encourage you to apply to be a CMAC member.  If you have been a member in the past and thought the process tedious and difficult, come back to the committee.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes that have transpired.

So what has happened since we last spoke? Hurricanes, earthquakes and MUSE agreed to some of the CMAC requests.  All natural phenomena! (Joking aside, I want to express best wishes to all that live in the affected areas.   Each of us on CMAC hope you and your families are all safe and well.)  The biggest change in the past quarter has more to do with the CMAC itself than anything else.  The committee suggested (and the Board agreed) that the timeline of the committee membership needed to change.  This will allow for better preparation for the presentation at the annual meeting.  So starting this year, the membership terms will start in October.  STOP READING THIS AND GET YOUR APPLICATIONS PREPARED.  Another important change is that meetings will move from monthly, to every other month.  This will better accommodate the busy schedules of the members.

I want to thank all my fellow committee members for allowing me the opportunity to chair this group.  It has been fun and rewarding.  I wish you all the best in the coming year.
