Keep Your Car and its Contents Safe

The Ventura Police Department (VPD) is utilizing electronic sign boards at targeted locations throughout the city to remind residents to lock their doors and windows, and remove items of value from your vehicle.

A high number of vehicle crimes have occurred throughout the City. The majority of incidents are the result of individuals leaving their vehicle unlocked or open. During the last week there were 29 reported thefts from vehicles (vehicles left unlocked), and 20 reported vehicle burglaries (force used).  Of the forcible incidents; 11 were window smashes, 5 had their doors pried or jimmi
ed, and 4 where the method of entry could not be determined. The majority of incidents (33) occurred during the weekday and evening to overnight hours.

VPD recently arrested four individuals with the help of alert citizens! Remember, if you suspect any suspicious activity please call  805.650.8010 immediately (24 hr. non-emergency phone number) or 911 in the event of an emergency.

Volunteer In Policing members are assisting Patrol Officers and helping to improve law enforcement services.
