Promenade Repair and Maintenance

Starting in September, the City will be repairing deteriorated portions of the beachfront Promenade and performing maintenance to provide a safe walkway for pedestrians.  This project is expected to extend the design life of the structure by another 20 years or more and reduce costly emergency repairs and on-going maintenance.

The project includes refurbishment of the existing beach access stairs at Paseo de Playa and restoration of the Promenade concrete structure by repairing concrete cracks and spalls, and waterproofing the structure from further saltwater corrosion.

Maintaining this tourist attraction is important to our economy and the tens of thousands of visitors and residents that enjoy our beaches each year.

Beachgoers will have access to the Promenade during construction and the entrance at Paseo de Playa will remain open.   Construction crews will be on site Monday-Friday from 7am-5pm.  For more information about this project click here

Outside the Comfort Zone: The Changing World of the Fire Service

Ventura City Manager Rick Cole gives immediate insight into breaking news.  In his latest post, he discusses the Fire Department's outreach efforts to develop a sustainable and cost-effective funding plan.

"It will take the best thinking of both our public safety professionals and informed community participants.  That's the path charted by our City Council - to analyze the challenge, come up with alternative recommendations and test them against community expectations and ability to pay for those choices."
