Thank you for attending the Ventura Beach+Town Local Coalition meeting on May 24. As we discussed, the project is a phased approach to achieving a long-term vision to activate the beachfront, restore connectivity to the ocean, and improve local and regional accessibility. Most importantly, it will require a community effort from leaders like you to make it happen.
City staff is scoping out next steps, which will involve:
- Seeking financing;
- Coordinating and negotiating with Caltrans, Union Pacific, property owners, and other key stakeholders;
- Forming a regional coalition of other California cities pursuing cap projects;
- Continuing local outreach;
- Forming a governance entity
We appreciate your interest and support as we move forward. Initially, the coalition will be vital in demonstrating to potential funders and regulating agencies that this project has strong backing from property owners, business owners, community organizations, and civic leaders.
To that end, our first request of you is to officially join the Ventura Beach+Town Coalition, which will enable us to list your name and organization as a supporter on our website, grant applications, and other materials.
Becoming a member is easy! Just fill out the attached electronic form, print it as a PDF, and email it back to lokamura@cityofventura.net at your earliest convenience. These forms will also be available at the next coalition meeting, to be scheduled in the next few months. We will keep you informed of the latest project updates via this e-newsletter.
As momentum builds, we plan to schedule meetings on a quarterly basis.
