Weekend Open Swim begins
at Ventura Aquatic Center March 31
   

 

A harbinger of spring is the weekend startup of "Open Swim" at the Ventura Aquatic Center, 901 S. Kimball Rd, in the Community Park: Saturdays and Sundays 12-3:30 pm. The 25-meter recreation pool, activity pool for toddlers and waterslides are open to unattended children 10 years or older. Children ages 9 and under must be accompanied by someone age 16 or older and 46" is the minimum height requirement for waterslides. Single entry fees: Free/under 2, $3/ages 2-5 & 62+, $5/ages 6-61. Earth Day Eco Fest April 14

 

Ventura's Earth Day Eco Fest on Saturday, April 14, 10 am to 5 pm, at Promenade Park on the beach in Ventura, is one of the most popular Earth Day celebrations in the tri-county area. Visitors to the annual event will be treated to free 1, 5 & 10K runs, family-friendly entertainment including live music, dance and puppet shows, education, green project displays and eco-friendly exhibitor booths.

4th of July Street Fair
vendor application deadline is April 20
   

 

Held on our nation's birthday, this popular annual event attracts up to 50,000 people to Downtown Ventura, free to the public with more than 250 fine artists, crafters, nonprofit organizations, and food booths along Main Street from Fir Street to Ventura Avenue interspersed with six stages of entertainment from 10 am to 5 pm.  A children's Pushem-Pullem Parade at 10 am, sponsored by the East Ventura Rotary Club, begins. at Cemetery Memorial Park (Main Street at Crimea Street.). All vendor applications are available at www.cityofventura.net/streetfairs until April 20 or call 654.7749. 

 
Family Festival in the Park May 12

 

The ninth annual Family Festival in the Park offers four events in one great day for the whole family at Barranca Vista Park, 7050 E. Ralston St. in Ventura, on Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 9 am to 5 pm. The festival includes the sixth annual Kids Swap Meet, from 9 am to 1 pm (deadline for swap meet applications is April 30 - click here to download Swap Meet Application (pdf), a free performance of "Peter Pan" (the season opener of Fairy Tales in the Park) and free Barranca Vista Creative Center performances of dance, theater, music and hands-on arts activities, refreshments and exhibits for the whole family plus an information fair on our city's community organizations, Admission is free. Free Compost Workshop April 21

Visit Cornucopia Garden, the county's largest community garden, on Telephone Road between Johnson Drive and the Ventura Community Park, for a free compost workshop on Saturday, April 21, 10 am to 12 pm.
