Greetings!

This issue of RD News brings you the next exciting step in HM Composite's transformation. We're almost there. Soon you'll know HM Composite's new name. Once you know the name, you'll see the new logo! Be sure to RSVP and attend our 35th Anniversary celebration on March 24th to see and hear the final step!

What Does a Logo Represent?

What do you think of when you look at a company logo? Does it bring an image to your mind's eye? A logo is a visual representation of the company's brand identity. But a name and logo is not all there is to building a brand. The name alone isn't the brand; adding the logo doesn't complete the brand. These are just visual representations of the brand. They are critical elements to the brand identity but it takes consistently delivering the brand to build the brand. A successful brand identity includes other things such as messages, colors, font, logo usage, design, style, tone of voice and supporting design elements.

World Class Branding

Nikie logoWhat do you think of when you see the Nike logo? Movement, energy?

This meaningful symbol and the "Just Do It" slogan communicated such a strong point of view to their target market that the image became synonymous with Nike. The Nike logo is a classic case of a company gradually simplifying its corporate identity as its fame increased.

Ferrari logo

What do you think of when you see the Ferrari Logo? Speed, beauty, quality, luxury? You associate these things with the visual image of the prancing horse without even seeing the word Ferrari.

Our New Logo

Our new name and logo represents the breadth of nutrition knowledge, expertise and services we provide to healthcare communities.  In last week's RD News, we learned our message to our clients is that we can help them "reduce risk, increase profit, and improve care quality". Our brand identity will be accompanied by our tag line "Excellence in Nutrition Therapy and Management".

Our brand identity and message together will create our new company representation. We all have a part in making the brand successful. Consistently delivering the message is important but the most important contribution we all can make is consistently delivering an amazing quality experience to our clients and the residents we jointly serve.

Contest to Guess the New HM Composite name!

  • Only ten letters (followed by Inc.)
  • Only one word
  • Past letter clues: R, U, C, I, P, T   A
  • New letters for this week:   O, I, N

Dear Dietitian

This is an exciting time for our company, HM Composite. As we prepare for the transition to our new corporate name, message, logo and brand it is important to me to take the time to reflect on our rich legacy. The year was 1976 and two bright young women had the courage and foresight to join forces and enter this brave new world for dietitians in LTC. At a Silicon Valley kitchen table, HM Composite was born. Most of you know that the HM represents Jane Harmer and Victoria Major, founders of our company. I am so pleased that they will both be attending our 35th Anniversary Party this week. It is astounding that this focused company has provided professional positions and employment for over 500 RD's.  Our menus have served over 3 million meals! Our dietitian staff touch residents and you make a difference every day!

Lee TincherEveryone at the corporate office, and especially me, are thrilled to be part of this transformation and look forward to seeing you at our party. See you Thursday --- and if you can't be there in person, check your email for our new name.

Cordially, Lee
