Book- A Vision in White by: Nora Roberts
Movie: Ghost & National Treasure
Food: Anything w/cheese
This month's teacher is Ms. Gaby from the Little Dragons Purple
Class. Ms. Gaby was born in Commerce, California
and at the age of 11 and moved back to her family's hometown near Guadalajara, Mexico. Her town of "Atotonilco" is
a place where her family is very well respected. Her Grandfather "Nicolas"
fought alongside Pancho Villa during the wars in Mexico. Her grandmother "Quirina"
was an "Adelita" a woman
soldier, who not only cooked and cared for the wounded but also actually fought
in battles against Mexican government forces as well.
Ms. Gaby now lives in Los Angeles with most of her family. She lives so close to her family that all of
her sisters and parents live on or near her in 3 other surrounding houses on
the same street (Wow!). She has one baby, her dog" Dooney" and is an avid
photographer and traveler. One of her proudest moments is teaching herself how
to drive standard when she was only 14 years old. You think that's young, her
first vehicle was a motorcycle (at the age of 12)! This year Ms. Gaby's focuses
is on kinder-readiness as well as having a messy, sensory filled experience
with all her new little dragons!
Wow, what a girl!

Meet our new office manager - Ms. Sherilyn
Sherilyn
is "temping" with us until the end of the year or until we find someone for our
permanent admin position. Sherilyn comes
from an administrative background as well as 10 years experience in the
action-sports apparel industry, including merchandising for children's
sleepwear and clothing. At Camelot she handles administrative duties within the
school office and is a liaison between parents and the Camelot staff.
She is also an expert vintage shopper! Come into the office and say hello - she
is super friendly and loves being a part of our staff!!
2009 Art work for education
is back:
Once again we'll be implementing our art cards program again
this year and can't wait to see the finished masterpieces. If you don't know
what this is, they are high-quality;
competitively priced greeting card showcasing artwork produced by students that
have one thing in common: the power to help schools pay for opportunities that
help their students learn! Forty percent (40%) from the sale of each box
is paid directly to the school and provides vital funds they need to pay for
supplies, programs, and other learning activities. We are looking forward to
creating holiday cards for you to send out to all your family and friends,
fabulous!
2009 Cook Book Project:
Please
take part in our recipe project. We are asking each Camelot family to share a
delicious family recipe. You can email
us your recipe or drop a print out of the recipe into the main office w/ our
lovely Sherilyn. Email your recipes
ASAP. We will be collecting all recipes until October1, 2009.
Update Parent Info:
Don't forget to go to our website and update your
information onto our school directory.
"Update Parent Info" tab. We are
implementing a new childcare software and require ALL families to re-enter your
information so it can be imported into our new software. If you have already done this for the new
2009/10 school year there is no need to do it again. We would like all of you do to this by the 10th
of September. The sooner this is done
the sooner we can email each family a PDF our "Parent Directory".
EZ Care Childcare Software
We are very excited to be introducing a new
software specifically designed for childcare.
Once it is set up, it will greatly reduce the amount of administrative
work, by doing most of the work automatically.
This new system will allow you to sign in/out on a touch screen monitor,
display important reminders, pay your tuition online and much more.
Recycle Center:
Please make an effort to donate your recyclables to
the bins that are located outside in the parking lot near the back fence
entrance. A little goes a long way and all the money(s) goes directly back into
the schools overall maintenance & supplies.
Wish List
Camelot has a wish list posted on our website which
lists the things we need, such as supplies from Lakeshore, books, or fun things
for the kids to enjoy. We greatly
appreciate any help in obtaining some of the items from our wish list. This list changes frequently so check back
often to see how you can help.
Parent Handbook:
Please keep in mind that our parent handbook is up
on our website and is available for you to peruse at anytime. It has all of our
daily information policies and procedures. We urge you to take some time and
read overall of its material.
Earthquake Backpack Reminder: Don't forget to turn in your Earthquake Backpack Kit. This is stored here
at school in case of an emergency. We store food and fresh water along with an
earthquake back pack for each child. There is an annual fee of $25 required to
replenish these goods each year. We need all backpacks handed into the main office by the 15th of September.
Year Book Committee:
Yay! We're compiling a 2009/10 yearbook and we need your help. We're looking
for parent photographers and people to assist in the overall compiling of the book.
Winter Solstice 2009:
This year's holiday event will be just as fabulous as last year's but we need
your input. Please email us if you are interested in organizing and planning
this jolly event!
