Greetings!
Welcome to the new e-mail version of our monthly newsletter, District Dialogue. In the past we have mailed this monthly newsletter to all DeForest Area Chamber of Commerce members. We hope you will continue to enjoy this publication -- now as an electronic mail message! District Dialogue represents another step in our commitment to improve communication with parents and the community at large. Please contact us if you have any questions. If you would like to unsubscribe, please go to the bottom of the page.
Check out how you can help your employees and customers be "money smart" -- See "Money Smart Week" information below. |

Money Smart Week
Financial illiteracy can contribute to many issues that lead to absenteeism or the loss of a valuable employee, and is the #1 impediment to Wisconsin's financial competitiveness. (WI Dept. of Financial Institutions)
DeForest Area Chamber of Commerce members -- PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD TO YOUR EMPLOYEES!
A Money Smart workforce is happier, healthier, and more productive. Telling your staff about the variety of free seminars offered during Money Smart Week allows you to offer a no-cost "benefit" with the potential for great returns. Seminars offered are educational in nature and open to the public. Events are tailored to teach consumers about money and how to manage it.
Here's how you can help:
- Request payroll stuffers (pre-cut 1/3 page, 2-sided) - just let us know how many you need.
- Post flyers throughout your organization.
- Send an email message to your employee ... or forward this email!
- Here's another idea -- inform your CUSTOMERS by requesting invoice stuffers.
Encourage your employees and customers to stop by one of the many free seminars sponsored by financial institutions, businesses, government agencies, schools, the library and many others who are joining together to promote personal financial education throughout the North Star of Dane County.
Topics include: Post-High School Financial Night for Parents & Students, Financial Planning, How to Raise a Money Smart Child, Preventing Elder Financial Exploitation and 'Early Inheritance', Security In Turbulent Times, Debt Consolidation, Budgeting and Saving, Managing Credit, Wealth Building, Starting a Business, Medicaid and Estate Preservation, and more!
Watch for the schedule of events in December!
Sponsored by the DeForest Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee. |
Parent teacher organizations support schools
There are many means available for parents interested in taking an active role in their child's education. Parent teacher organizations (also known as parent teacher associations and parent teacher clubs) is one way that parents can have a prominent voice within their child's school.
Parent-teacher organizations in the DeForest Area School District have long supported our schools, facilitating parent involvement, supporting teachers, and organizing family events. In addition to sponsoring events that help connect families with their schools, most parent teacher organizations sponsor fundraising activities to support support activities and programs.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our wonderful parent teacher organizations and communicate two of their fundraising programs that help raise funds to supplement our children's education and provide a service to families.
