Thursday May 27, 2010 1-3pm "Understanding
Nanotechnology Safety"
A
Small Times Webinar
Geo Museum Room 102 (Haller Hall), 24 Oxford Street
- The real health risks of nanotechnology in
manufacturing today
-
What can happen to the body when exposed to
hazardous nano materials
-
How to minimize the risk of exposure to you
and your employees
-
Government safety regulations you need to
be aware of
This seminar is of interest to anyone
concerned about the potential health hazards of exposure to nanoengineered
materials. Workers may be exposed to nanomaterials in many different
manufacturing environments, and this seminar will educate them on the real
risks. The seminar is also designed to educate employers about what they need
to know to ensure worker safety and what types of nano materials are of the
most concern. Of significant interest to CEOs/CTOs of technology companies
(SMEs), Health and Safety officers of technology companies (SMEs), Government
officials (HSE), Toxicology experts, and venture capitalists.

Raith
ebeam lithography system upgraded, now faster
 CNS
recently completed an upgrade to our workhorse Raith 150 ebeam lithography
system. This upgrade included the
installation of a new pattern generator, control computer, and operating software. These changes allow roughly a doubling in the
writing speed. "Most users will see a
significant improvement in speed and ease of use" says ebeam specialist Yuan
Lu. The Raith's laser stitching
capability allows writing of 4 inch
wafers, and with the recent upgrade stage motion speed has been
significantly improved. Experimentalists
waiting for available ebeam time should also note that the Raith system is a much-less-heavily scheduled alternative to our
Elionix. Contact Yuan Lu for information and to schedule training. |
Steven Hickman Joins as Nanofab Engineer
Steven Hickman joined CNS as a full
time photolithography engineer in January, 2010. Prior to his arrival at CNS, Steven was a CNF Fellow at Cornell University where he received his Ph.D. in Chemistry. Since his arrival at CNS he has assumed the technical lead role for the Heidelberg mask generation system, and has developed a new training syllabus for basic contact photolithography. |
Hao-Yu Lin Joins as Materials Engineer
Hao-Yu (Greg) Lin joined CNS as a full time Materials Process
Engineer in January, 2010. Hao-Yu received his Master of Science degree
in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in the City of New
York. He has over 5 years of work experience in the nanotechonolgy and
semiconductor field as a Device Research Engineer at Nantero, Inc. in Woburn,
MA. His main focus was using carbon nanotubes for various electronic
applications and thin film characterizations. Among his new responsibilties, Hao-Yu is now conducting training on SU-8 lithographic processes, and overseeing the XPS system. |
