Welcome to Tips for Your Lips - Volume 4
We were very excited to see your response to our first three newsletters and are pleased to be on Volume 4 -Tips for Your Lips from the Lano Company. We just finished our second big Holiday show in Kansas City and it was so nice meeting some of you in person. We just have time to catch our breathe and we are off to A Christmas Affair, another holiday-type mart sponsored by the Junior League and being held in Austin, TX, Nov. 19-23, 2008. Each year, tens of thousands of shoppers ascend upon events like A Christmas Affair to snatch up beautiful and unusual Christmas and holiday gifts for friends and loved ones.

I couldn't find a lip balm that really worked - so I created one! Most people do not know that LanoLip was originally created on my stove-top. (Do not worry -- we have tested and re-tested our products.) Now every LanoLip is filled by an FDA-approved fulfillment company. I discovered the healing power of medical-grade lanolin while breastfeeding my daughter and started playing with a formula. I have a picture below that was taken in the very beginning! We filled and labeled the first 2,500 lip balms and shared with everyone we knew! That was almost three years ago!

I was in a training seminar several years back and the trainer asked the question:
"What kind of car do you drive?"
"Why?"
He also asked several other people in the room the same question.
I replied with a Lexus because it is quiet and comfortable. It has lots of bells and whistles, and I like that it is reliable.
The trainer then asked someone else what kind of vacuum cleaner that they had at home and why? Their response was that it picked up dirt well and had an air filter that filtered dust mites.
This went on for several minutes and then he said astoundingly --NO ONE said they they purchased any of the items that are important to them because of cost!
This respond stuck with me for years. A few months later I had a client that was I was about the lose to a competitor for a lower cost. I asked the person the same questions.
"What do you like about MY company?"
He answered great customer service, new applications and technologies and always very reliable.
I responded, "You never said price!"
It saved the deal, and he regained a new respect for me and my company.
It isn't always about money, but quality of products that you are getting for the money.
While working the Holiday Mart this past week, I had more than a few customers say that they still had some left from last year and it was the best lip balm that they had ever used! When I was a "lip-balm addict" (that is, before I developed LanoLip), I would go through 18 wax-based lip balms at .99 cents each in a year, and they never did anything to offer any real relief.
Now I want to spread the relief so I have also been working very hard on our Private Label Division. I have large companies tell me they are used to buying promotional items at a $1.25 -$1.50.
But I'm wondering, "If the customer or client throws it away after a month, is the value really there?"
My mission is to offer quality products at a great price and remind my customers, "You get what you for!"
