Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated
Phi Beta Sigma Donates to the
Prince Hall Memorial

Announcement to Brothers and Public Supporters June 17, 2009
Greetings!

The name Prince Hall in Masonry is synonymous with the father of African-American Masonic beginnings in the United States and abroad.   A monument is being erected in his honor and Phi Beta Sigma has made a contribution to assist it's construction.

For those Sigma Brothers who are Masons, I plan to be in attendance at the unveiling of the monument.   I am asking you to consider joining me for this very special occasion if at all possible.

Dear Brother Young,

On behalf of the men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., it is my privilege to extend this short note to express how very pleased and excited we are as an organization to contribute to the Prince Hall Monument Fund.

The legacy of Prince Hall has been a source of inspiration for tens of thousands of people of color in the United States and abroad, particularly in Masonry.  Many men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity hold dear the long list of accomplishments made by Prince Hall during the mid 1700's through the early 1800's.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. takes pride in making this contribution to the building of the monument. We sincerely applaud the efforts of Mayor E. Denise Simmons of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Marvin Gilmore, Chairman, and others working conscientiously to make this project a reality.

I plan to be in Cambridge, on September 12, 2009, to witness and participate in the activities to honor Prince Hall with a fitting monument on the Cambridge Common.

Brotherly,

Paul
