INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC INFO FOR PARENTS OF THIRD AND FOURTH GRADERS

If you would like your child to be a part of one of the award winning instrumental music programs in the 2012-2013 school year, please mark the following dates on your calendars.

May 9: Third and fourth grade students will be bused to Hadley for a demonstration concert performed by Hadley band and orchestra students. This will help students decide if there is an instrument they would like to play.

May 15-May 16: The instrumental music staff will conduct "Instrument Petting Zoos" and "Fiddling Fiestas" at each of the elementary schools to encourage students to try different instruments. Third and fourth graders can try the orchestra instruments and join orchestra in fourth or fifth grade. Fourth graders can try band instruments and join band in fifth grade. Orchestra instruments include violin, viola, cello and bass. Band instruments include flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion. Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin are scheduled for May 15, Churchill and Forest Glen for May 16.

May 22: Parents of interested students should attend the Band and Orchestra Registration Open House at Hadley, from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Parents will be able to meet the directors and register their children for band or orchestra. Please look for more information to come home through your children.  Every effort will be made to help students who need financial assistance, but parents need to attend the Registration Open House to fill out the appropriate forms.
