Collect Your Passport for a Chance to Win! |
Explorers, travelers and trailblazers: this September, your adventure begins at your local library! Library cardholders in the Morris Automated Information Network are invited to play Passport to Imagination: Around M.A.I.N. in 30 Days. Three winners, who complete a series of library visits, will be eligible for a Grand Prize Drawing. If you live in Rockaway Township, possess a library card in good standing, and have a passion for exploration and knowledge, you could win an Apple iPad, a Nexus 7, or a Barnes and Noble Nook. Here's how to play:
- Visit your local library in person and present a library card in good standing (or, sign up for a new library card) to receive a stamped Passport.
- Bring your library card AND passport to five more participating M.A.I.N. libraries or branches. Each library will add a stamp to your Passport.
- Once you've received six stamps, leave your Passport at any participating M.A.I.N. library or branch.
Rockaway Township residents can pick up their passports when we reopen after Labor Day, on September 4. Passports will be distributed, stamped and collected until September 30, 2012. More information, including rules, regulations and eligibility requirements, are available at www.mainlib.org/passport.
Rockaway Township Free Public Library Director Michele Reutty, a member of the NJ Spokes-Women Motorcycle Club, planted the seed for this game after hearing about New Jersey Smart Riders' RIDE2WIN program.
Through books, innovative programs, digital media, film, music, storytelling and classes, your library works to bring knowledge and culture to your fingertips. Here's your chance to see how libraries in your surrounding communities work towards a single goal: to send your imagination on a trip around the world.

Summer Reading - Books by the Thousands | The results are in from our Summer Reading Programs for children, teens and adults - and frankly, they're amazing. Here are some of the highlights!
Children's Summer Reading
This year, over 700 children took part in our Summer Reading Program. Children aged 0-5 read with 8,770 books with their parents, with over 1,000 hours of reading logged. Children in grades 1-6 read 6,735 books in over 3,000 hours. Rockaway's youngest readers continue to impress!
Teen Summer Reading
In the Teen Summer Volunteer Program, we had 90 participants who logged in over 1,500 hours of volunteer time. The teen summer reading program attracted 25 participants. We gave away $150 in gift certificates to several lucky winners. The teens read more than 450 books and logged in more than 1,000 hours of reading. See below for information on our Summer Reading Pizza Party!
Adult Summer Reading
58 readers took part in our Adult Summer Reading Program. Altogether, they read 704 books - an average of 12.14 books per reader! We gave away dozens of prizes, including a lovely throw for our Grand Prize Winner, Dianne Feula... Be sure to attend her Poetry Workshop next month!
Special thanks are due to our excellent Rockaway Township Library staff, for keeping all three programs running smoothly and encouraging readers of all ages. Autumn is nearly here, but you're welcome to keep on reading with us!
