Chairman and Vice Chair

It is with some trepidation that I ask for your vote as your next president of the NCWC. My running mate is Earl Bishop, currently the Captain of the 69th New York and a member of the Club budget committee. I am currently the vice president of the Club and a Lt. Colonel on the artillery battalion staff. I have also been your announcer and chair of the PR committee for the past 9 years. I was event coordinator for all 3 Lebanon events and 1 Willamette Mission event.

We are excited to continue where Steve Betschart has left off with a working budget for the Club, refining and clarifying our rules, and a great group of volunteers that chair various committees, plan and coordinate events and overall improve the reputation and presence of this Club.

I think Mr. Bishop would agree we have three of the most cooperative and energetic military commanders right now in Scott Eakman, Jim Stanovich and Joe Cross. They have made battle planning and the battles more fun and exciting for the public and reenactor alike. We are looking forward to the next couple of years with them on the executive Board. With the nomination of Howie Loewen as our new Civilian Advocate we can all expect continued improvements at events and off season.

While we are running unopposed, please take a moment and show your support by voting for us. Here's to more great years of reenacting with friends and family!

Secretary

I intend to run as Secretary once again, and hope that you will vote for me. Being Secretary can be a challenge, but I believe I have done a pretty good job of staying on top of all those who "make a motion", "second that", who is there and who is not. I am that one person who does alot of work behind the scenes and I hope that you will elect me once again.

Membership Coordinator

I am very excited for the upcoming year with my son going on the field with the fife and drum corp for the first time. I am also excited to be running for membership coordinator. I know I can do a good job. I've learned almost everyon's name having worked with my mother, Judy Johnson, in the past few years. She has shown me the ropes on how to run membership. I also will add some new ideas. It would be an honor and my pleasure to be your membership coordinator for the NCWC.

Dixie Fisher

Membership Coordinator

First I want to thank everyone who gave me so much help this season. It was quite a learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many of our members. Now that I have some knowledge of the process I would very much like to be given the opportunity to continue working on the improvements so many of us have discussed. Notably my major goals are proper unit recognition, getting the unit commanders timely and proper information as well as complete and accurate sign in rosters. I found that this position is a lot of work but I have enjoyed the work load and appreciate the benefits for the whole club to be as accurate as possible. With the improvements made on the data processing I can concentrate on the workings of the registration booth at the events. That is the toughest part of this job and will be my focus for the coming year. I want to make the booth more efficient and even try alternatives such as a mobile sign in process to make it easier for the members who are consistent participants. I would really like to see members get involved and have them feel comfortable in giving their input with an investment in improving the process. Thank you again for all your support and with your vote I look forward to continuing doing the best I can for this club.

Your Humble Servant

Battalion Commander - Confederate

My fellow Confederates,
Once again it is election season and I am running for the position of Confederate Battalion Commander.

Next season will be my twenty year anniversary in this hobby and I still enjoy it as much as the day I started, if not more.

I would like to thank all of you for making this such a great hobby.

I would like to especially thank the fantastic staff that has been there with me and worked so hard through all these years to keep everyone safe and happy. I couldn't do it without ya!

So once again I am asking y'all for your support and your vote.

Thank you,
Colonel Jim Stanovich

Battalion Commander - Union

My name is Scott Eakman and I am running for the position of Union Battalion Commander.

This upcoming season will mark my 19th consecutive year in this organization. I have had the privilege of serving in almost all of the ranks, from private to Lt. Colonel. I have served on the staffs of three very different Battalion Commanders. I was almost unanimously elected by Representatives on the NCWC Board to fulfill the role of Battalion Commander this past season.

My mission is twofold: to honor and educate.

Foremost we must remember we are here to honor those who came before us, whom we truly strive to understand what they gave to us, and whose debt we can never repay. But we must also honor each other, for each one of us is truly indebted to all in our organization today. It is our membership who gives us the opportunity to grasp at a special bond with those ancestors before us. We serve our ancestors by serving the needs of each other.

We are also here to educate. We must strive to not only educate the public, but we are also here to educate one another, for each one of us holds valuable information that others do not know, and who need to know.

This past season WE accomplished a lot. WE assembled an extremely experienced staff composed of members of many different companies to form a very good blend of the whole Battalion. WE built strong bonds with many units: Infantry, Cavalry (mounted and dismounted), Artillery, and with the Confederate Battalions as well, leading to greater variety in battles, in drills, and in camps. WE gained a lot of experience.

I am looking forward to what we can accomplish the next two years. Thank you for your continued support.

Battalion Commander - Union

This is to inform you that I intend to seek the office of Union battalion commander for the term 2012.

I have been re-enacting since 1984 and a member of NCWC since 1992. (that’s longer than many of you have been alive.)

I have served as Chief of Staff and Commander of the Nevada Civil War Volunteers. In the Northwest Civil War Council I have been in the 79th NYSM, Rockbridge Artillery and the 1st U. S. Cavalry. I consider myself a well rounded re-enactor having served in all three combat arms.

I also have real life military experience, 3 years as a U. S. Army paratrooper, serving in Viet Nam in LRRP and as a National Guard M.P. where I attained the rank of 1st Lt. (platoon leader).

I will do my best to further our hobby in the coming year.

Thank you for your consideration,
Stan Snodgrass

Battalion Commmander - Artillery

Fellow reenactors and artillerists,

First to my reeancting family I want to thank so many of you for your cards, warm wishes and financial help in my recent medical problems. You really are 'Family' to Michelle and I and we appreciate you.

I am once again running for artillery battalion command and ask for your vote. Over the last several years I believe we have improved the persona of the group, more then doubled our membership, and built better relationships with the other battalions. I commit to cintinue those efforts with the help of my second in command, Lt. Col. Bruse Alley. Should my health interfere with my duties I would trust Col. Alley will be more then acapable and deserving of running the battalion for the NCWC.

Thanks you in advance or your support,
Col. Joe Cross

Batallion Commander - Artillery

Greetings to All NCWC Artillery Members,

I take this opportunity to introduce myself, John Frenzel, to you by way of the Bugle Call.

As a proud member of the NCWC Artillery for the past 19 years, I have seen the Artillery grow from small one unit to four units. This growth allowed for the formation of the Artillery Battalion.

I had the honor of serving as Battalion Commander in the past and would like the opportunity to once again serve you in that capacity. My experience includes Qtr Master Sergeant, 1st Lt, Section Leader, Company Commander of Rockbridge Artillery, and Artillery Battalion Commander and Event Coordinator.

If elected as Artillery Battalion Commander, I will strive to serve and represent our Battalion to the best of my ability. I look forward to working with "old" friends and meet new members. As the Artillery Battalion is a vital part of the NCWC, I hope can count on your vote.

Your Obedient Servant,
John Frenzel

Civilian Advocate

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Northwest Civil War Council,

My name is Howie Loewen and I ask for your consideration in the upcoming election for the office of Civilian Advocate. I have been a member of the NCWC since 1997, participating both as a military re-enactor in the 19th Indiana and the 69th New York, and more recently adopting a civilian impression. I have held military offices within the 69th NY and for the past several years have been that unit's Civilian Advocate. I have also been assisting the current office holder, Oscar Hult, with the civilian camp setup for two years; filling in for him during setup if needed. I have had the opportunity and pleasure to meet many of you while serving in that capacity.

I believe communication is the key to running any organization, whether business or non-profit. I would strive to open up the lines of communication not only between the office and the civilians it serves, but also between the military and civilian participants. Having worn both the kepi and the top-hat, I have an understanding of the goals each hope to achieve, without losing sight of the fact that a hobby needs to remain fun.

Thank you for your consideration.

Your obedient servant
Howie Loewen
