Want a way to inspire your students? From Author and Storyteller Bob Kann comes the biography Cindey Bentley: Spirit of a Champion book tour.
Chronicling the remarkable story of Special Olympian Cindy Bentley, the book details how Bentley was able to defy the low expectations society had for her because of her cognitive disability. Instead, Cindy focused on what she could do and succeeded again and again including having dinner twice at the White House, carrying the flag at the 1995 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and giving a speech in front of 15,000 people. The assembly will feature Kann interviewing Bentley to introduce three major themes that have helped her throughout her life: self-determination, resiliency and inclusion. Don't miss out on this encouraging event!
Arts @ Large is offering a FREE presentation to the first six schools that register, so sign up now! After the first six register, the presentation is still available at $500 and you CAN USE YOUR ARTS @ LARGE FUNDS! All schools that register will receive 30 copies of the book for their library.
The presentation is geared toward grade levels 3rd and 4th (students are encouraged to read the book before the presentation so that they will have questions to ask Bentley). Each school must host a "Mix-It-Up Day" during lunch in conjunction with the assembly. For more information about how to host a "Mix-It-Up Day", visit artsatlargeinc.org.
