Our middle school students set up their stores at the NorthStar Market.Everyday around 3:00 our middle school students set up their "stores" at the NorthStar Market.  It is a great hands-on exercise in entrepreneurship.  I want to invite you to drop by and shop in the store (I have seen lots of dill pickles out there, a wide assortment of chips, granola bars, some candy (there would be more but the nutrition police keep a lid on it), popsicles, etc.  Drop by NorthStar any day at 3:00 and spend a dollar or two in the market and our budding entrepreneurs will be very excited. 
 
Drop in this Friday (June 26) and, after shopping in the market, you can see volunteers from Brook Hills Church leading Bible Camp with their "Rock the Block" VBS program at 3:30. 
 
Make a reservation for a lunch on one of our camp tour Mondays on June 29 or July 6.  Drop in at 11:00 for a quick tour.  Presentation and lunch will begin at 11:30.  You may also want to consider coming to Hill Elementary School on Thursday, July 16 for our closing program for Camp NorthStar 2009.

Lastly, please take a moment right now to see a few photos of how much fun the kids are having learning at Camp NorthStar this summer.

Involvement Opportunities
We are currently projecting a shortfall of approximately $8,000.  Some of this we have prospects for filling over the next couple of months, but it is not definite and won't cover the full amount.  If you have not done so already, please consider sponsoring a child who is currently at camp for $600 for the summer or $100 for a week.  We will find a way even if we don't get this deficit covered but, getting it covered will put us on better footing as we wrap up the summer and begin preparing for an exciting line up of fall programs.

On July 10 we have the opportunity to take students from Camp NorthStar on a "camp-in" at the McWane Science Center.  This event will do a lot to enhance our science classes at Camp NorthStar.  We have been able to arrange a discounted price for NorthStar campers but we still need $20 per camper for the event.  We will be asking parents to pay that fee.  However, if you would like to tack on an extra $20 to your child sponsorship then we could pass along an additional discount on the McWane Center tickets to the most needy of our Camp NorthStar families.

We cannot hire any staff for this event.  We are looking for volunteers.  If you are interested please let me know.  You can bring your own child (child tickets are regularly $30 and adult tickets $15) and help chaperone a small group of NorthStar kids at the same time!
