I want to share with you a letter I received asking for financial aid for a 6 year old boy to attend Camp NorthStar this summer. My response to this letter will be that we have a space but that I am working on the funding to make the fee reduction possible.  I hope that if you are able to do so, you will help us by helping to sponsor a child this summer.

Here's the most exciting news I want you to know about:  due to a large grant, NorthStar Soccer Club is hiring a talented director - Val Kikkert.  Please read more about Val below and mark your calendar to join us August 10th for "Welcome Coach Val Day"!

Few take the time to write a letter to me like the one I received recently asking for financial aid for a 6 year old boy to attend Camp NorthStar this summer.  But many talk to me about job loss, family illness, separations or other issues that have hit them over the past year. These families who are coming to us are looking for the quality we have to offer but need the financial assistance we promise to make the program affordable.

If you cannot contribute, I do hope you will pray for the speedy success of this campaign.  You also might consider supporting the program through your volunteer time.  We are actively looking for church groups to help with the Bible Camp portion of the day and a number of other volunteer opportunities as well.

The cost of fully sponsoring a student for the 6-weeks of Camp NorthStar is $600.  Partial sponsorships are welcome as well.  Won't you help a child Reach For The Stars?

Welcome Coach Val Day set for August 10th

Welcome Coach Val day set for August 10th!On August 10, 2009 NorthStar Youth Ministries will welcome Val Kikkert to a new full-time staff position. This new position is possible through a special grant we are receiving specifically to develop the NorthStar Soccer Club program.  Val will bring her expertise and experience to the new position of Director of NorthStar Soccer - giving the soccer club program the kind of attention it needs and at the same time freeing Paul Neville up to put a lot more attention into Camp NorthStar and our growing range of after-school programs.  Val's primary role with NorthStar will be to lead the soccer program and to develop the funding to sustain her position and continue to grow the program.
