| No car, no Electricity and 2 Children Needing Stability |
Let's call him Jacob. This fall we were missing one of our most talented boys from the U10 boys team. I had tried repeatedly at the beginning of the season to reach the mother but never could.
I assumed "Jacob" was just playing football but wasn't sure why mom would not return my calls. With just a few weeks remaining in the season I decided to make one more effort.

| Your Partnership with NorthStar Touches Many Lives in Many Ways |
When you give to NorthStar Youth Ministries you are giving to many things. Most of us give from our time and/or from our financial resources to make all the valuable components of Camp NorthStar, Bible Camp & future Middle School Bible Club, NorthStar Soccer, Scrollworks Music Classes, Gardening Club and many events a reality for the youth we serve.
 That may be enough for you, but when you give you are making possible so much more. When you give you are creating the opportunity for young people (like Portia Duncan to the left) to explore working with youth. Some of them, like Portia, are tried and true and able to serve as paid Camp Counselors. Others are young high school students taking their first steps from being campers to becoming leaders. We advertise that those students are learning job skills, and that is very true and very valuable. They are also learning parenting skills. The Love & Logic strategy which we use for Camp discipline provides them a model for how we hope they will raise their own children in the future.

Last spring you learned about a Challenge Grant opportunity to provide Camp NorthStar for a record 162 youth this summer. You responded with $8,345 in contributions to sponsor 14 additional students for the 6-week program. Our anonymous contributor matched that with $8,000 for 13 more students. We received an additional match from Energen of $2,500 for 4 more students and a final contribution of $7,000 for another 12. Those 43 were added to what we were able to do through the combined sources of parent fees, Foundation support and neighborhood association support to make the program available for a record 162 youth!
We celebrate and thank all our Contributing Partners, and Dedicated Volunteers and Staff.
