 Young Boy Rallies Against Taxation

A little boy wanted $100 badly and prayed for two weeks but nothing happened. Then he decided to write a letter to the Lord requesting the $100. When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to the Lord, USA, they decided to send it to the President. The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill, as this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00, and sat down to write a thank-you note to the Lord.

It said: Dear Lord, Thank you very much for sending me the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington, DC and as usual, those jerks deducted $95.

Paying Back Big Debt

Even wonder what would happen if Greece, Ireland, or some other country couldn't pay its debt? I mean, it's not like you can go in and repossess the country (I think they call that 'war'). In fact, countries who have a bit too much debt cause all sorts of panic throughout the world. When a company goes bankrupt, at least its assets can be put up for sale to try and make some of your money back. This option isn't available if you loan money to a country.

A nice, short (4 page) article by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas covers this and other issues related to Sovereign Debt problems. If you're interested, you can find it at http://www.dallasfed.org/research/eclett/2010/el1009.pdf.

Measured Ideas about Creation

I'm a creationist. And one of the little problems in saying that the earth isn't billions of years old is carbon dating. This throws a wrench in the validity of a young earth. However, I can see the evolution theory's Achilles heel: if physics worked differently in the past than it does now, all that dating work becomes invalid. It seemed that nothing is quite as constant as radioactive decay rates, until now.

Some studies seem to indicate that radioactive decay rates do change...with the seasons. See the story at the Discovery web site:
http://news.discovery.com/space/is-the-sun-emitting-a-mystery-particle.html#mkcpgn=emnws1

Sure, this doesn't prove that God created everything in six days, but it is interesting to think of the possibilities.

(Don't worry, if I get up to heaven and God tells me He started the whole thing a billion years ago with a big bang, it really won't bother me.)

That's all, for now.
