Dear Friends of the YMCA of Greater Miami,
As we approach the end of another tough, but inspiring year,
I'd like to thank you all for being a part of our family. Carrying out the mission and work of our YMCA
is a very special task that we all undertake with the utmost care and love in
order to serve the needs of those in our community. It is so important to keep this extraordinary
effort fresh in our minds and close to our hearts throughout the year. That's why we'd like to start sharing more of
our story with you.
Starting in January 2010, we will share one "YMCA Connection" story with
you each month. These stories will each
showcase a child, individual or family whom have benefited in some significant
way from being part of the YMCA of Greater Miami. Additionally, we are thrilled to finally be
stepping into the era of social media with Facebook and Twitter. These new initiatives will help us to further
connect with you in ways that will allow us all to interact, share information,
photos and videos, and learn from each other each day.
Also coming in January 2010, is the opening of our brand new
Village of Allapattah Family Branch. We
are absolutely thrilled to finally be re-opening our doors in the Allapattah community, and look forward to serving the entire community through an array of enriching, family-friendly
programming and community events. The
branch will be rich in offerings such as membership, youth and teen programs
and sports, senior activities, and an on-site preschool. Check out photos from our Dedication Ceremony which took place Friday, December 11 at the branch!
The New Year will also bring about the
beginning stages of a long-awaited, renovated South Dade Family YMCA facility; a
facility that will allow us to serve many more area residents and families than
we currently serve.
