Sacred Earth Day Events 2010
Greetings!

A significant collaboration is underway, and Multifaith Action Society is working with Be The Change Earth Alliance to bring the Be The Change program to faith communities throughout the Lower Mainland.  This program continues the commitment of MAS to convene values-based forums on issues affecting the common good, recognizing that Faith and the Environment is a priority issue connecting us all.

Awaken The Dreamer ~ Be The Change Symposia and Presentations have been held in Sikh Gurdwaras, Shia Mosques, the Quaker Meeting House, Unitarian & Unity churches, Jewish Synagogues, and several United Churches. These communities are now using the Be The Change Action Guide to identify many ways they can choose life-sustaining behaviours.

Please join us as we celebrate this multi-faith movement on Tuesday, April 20th for a Sacred Earth Day Celebration at Canadian Memorial, a Labyrinth Walk on April 22nd at St. Paul's, and a Pilgrimage to Burns Bog on April 25th.

ANNUAL LABYRINTH WALK IN HONOUR OF EARTH labyrinth map

April 22, 2010 7:00pm - 9:00pm

St. Paul's Anglican Church, 1130 Jervis Street
(between Davie and Pendrell)

Deep inside, even we city-dwellers know that our relationship to nature goes beyond peering out from behind the drapes to see whether it's raining or not.

We are thirsty for an opportunity to re-connect with nature, to recreate the relationship many of us had as children with the environment around us.

The focus of our Earth Day Walk is awareness of the depth of our connection to the natural world, awareness of the ways in which it nourishes and comforts us, of the complexity and beauty with which it surrounds us.

We often come to the Labyrinth looking for insight into what we need for healing. This is a chance to ask how we might heal our relationship with the natural world. How can we be more present to it? Can we be a part of its healing?
BURNS BOG PILGRIMAGE

Sunday April 25th 2010
Burns Bog 2010
1:30 start at 640 Chester Rd, Annacis Island, Delta
5:00 conclude at the Delta Nature Reserve

You are invited to attend the annual Pilgrimage to Burns Bog. Like last year, people will be gathering Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 640 Chester Road, Delta (Quiznos on Annacis Island), at 1:30 p.m. to walk over the Alex Fraser Bridge.

Sunday, April 25th is the last day of earth week and a great opportunity to celebrate our globally unique Burns Bog, the "lungs of the Lower Mainland."

This year we are suggesting that people who do not wish to walk over the bridge gather at the Great Pacific Forum Planet Ice (10388 Nordel Court, Delta) to wait for the walkers.

Displays by participating organizations will be available for people to enjoy while waiting for the walkers. Once the walkers arrive everyone will walk into the Delta Nature Reserve for singing, speeches by invited guests and a closing prayer. The anticipated closing time is 5 p.m.

You are welcome to take this opportunity to tell your story.  Please call the Burns Bog Conservation Society at 604.572.0373 or email info@pilgrimage2burnsbog.org to order tents or tables or for more information.
