The CHALLENGE is yours!
Applying for a Downtown Development Authority Challenge Grant, that is.
If you're planning to invest in downtown by improving your residence or business or creating a new and cultural opportunity - in general, efforts that translate into a public benefit and further Imagine Downtown goals - you might want to consider applying for a DDA Challenge Grant to cover some of the costs.
The DDA Challenge Grant program will issue up to $300,000 in grants this year, with half earmarked for projects relating to downtown residential. The maximum grant award will be $50,000, although most grants will range between $10,000 and $25,000.
But hurry! Deadline for challenge grant applications is 5 p.m., April 30!
Check out more information about the DDA and Challenge Grants.

Hooray for Two-way
Tejon Street, that is.
The four-in-the-core blocks of Tejon Street that have long been one-way heading south (from Bijou to Vermijo) are soon to change their way.
Tejon will return to two-way traffic on Monday, March 31 at 6 a.m. The four blocks will be closed for most of the day before (Sunday, March 30) to re-stripe and provide appropriate signage. After completion of a two-year study by BBC Research and Consulting - which indicated enhanced downtown mobility and safety, as well as increased traffic for retail along the four-block stretch - City Council approved the action in late November 2007.
