 Presidents
to Gather at Convention
killington
Please plan to attend the ASD National Convention, where ASD does a great deal of its organizing for the year ahead. It is the time when your presence clearly influences the direction ASD will take moving forward.

The organizational meetings at convention include the general membership meeting. This is a town meeting in the classical New England style, which means anyone can stand up and debate policy - and believe us, there have been times when this right was plentifully invoked!

There is time and space set aside for meetings of different organizational groups. This includes a meeting of chapter presidents, where you discuss issues of concern to ASD at the local level: how to get members, what to teach, do we need some courses, etc.

You also have the right to sit in on the Trustee meetings and the RVP meeting.

All this in addition to the great lectures and workshops!!
Volunteer for Convention 2009
Convention Chair
"The 2009 Convention will focus on science and practical application," Sharon Cohen, our Convention Chair, reports.

The Convention Committee is forming now and Sharon has requested we send the word out - NATIONAL !! That means committee members and convention topics.

What are the calls you as presidents are receiving in your area? Locating ancient sites? Water? Let Sharon know where ASD needs to develop more experts - that means classes to teach local folks how to teach these topics and to expand your expertise in meeting your area's needs.

We are in the process of looking for the 2009 convention site. Do you know of a great site? Would you like to be part of the site selection committee? The committee is expanding its search beyond the borders of Vermont to all of New England, which is acceptable by Vermont's non-profit laws. The committee's criteria: easy access by plane and car,  inexpensive lodging and food available in the vicinity, land for dowsing practice, a hall large enough for our feature presentations and membership meeting, and a casual ambience. If membership likes the Killington venue once we've experienced convention there, that is one option.

Please contact Sharon to volunteer to serve on the 2009 committee. Her goal is nationwide representation - people in NE and across the country. Join the likes of Marty Cain (NC & NH), Sybil Carey (NH), Dave Drillick (FL), Joe Smith (KS) and chapter presidents Dianne Coulombe (CA) and Dorothy Roberts (FL). Sharon's contact email: sharon@endlesspossibilities2.com

rvp & presidentsBuilding Community
We are incorporating the wonders of the electronic age to help build community among our diverse chapters spread across the breadth of this great country. We have a lot of great events planned, to start this new level of unity, so read on!!

This is the first of an irregular newsletter from the ASD RVPs to chapter presidents and the chapter contact person. In the future, we will be including ideas for chapter events, available speakers, available resources - all those things we've ALL been wanting to get organized! Of course, a lot of that information comes directly from you presidents, assisting each other. Anything special on your wish list? Let us know.

telephoneFirst Chapter Presidents/RVP Phone Conference Call
Please join us in our first USA community get together: a chapter president/contact person/rvp phone conference call! We'll introduce the RVPs, talk about chapter needs and how we can all assist each other. If you have positive ideas to share, or any concerns, this will be a format to discuss.

Details: Time: Wednesday, June 18 at 8pm est  (that means you need to work back: 7pm cst, 6pm mst, 5pm pst)

Phone #: 309 946 5000. You will be asked to key in a code - that is: 426029# That will take you on-line to the group call.

The call is handled through freeconference.com. The only charge is the long distance fee from your phone to the Midwest number; it helps if you are on a national calling plan or have unlimited cell phone minutes. We'll address key issues first, for those who're able to join only for a short time. Tip: any background noise is picked up and heard by all so you may wish to have barking dogs in another room, or not crunch on potato chips during the call !!

Following the June 18 phone conference, each of the RVP will be in touch with the chapters in their area, to start a series of regional phone conferences.
Chapter Convention Scholarship
ASD is offering a convention scholarship to one individual from each region. The scholarship covers the cost of convention registration. Travel and board are not included; that must be paid by the individual or by the local chapter.

The RVPs feel it would be of most benefit to a region to have the scholarship go to a chapter president, who can then return and inspire their whole chapter. However, if a chapter wishes to select someone else, that is fine, too.

Each chapter wishing to participate should have their selected candidate send to their RVP (see contact information below) a letter stating who they are and why they want to attend. The RVP will then make a selection of one individual from that region to receive the scholarship.

The only requirements are that the scholar agrees to attend the annual membership meeting (where they will be introduced to all) and the chapter presidents meeting at the convention (to represent their chapter), and that they write up a summary of their experience (one to a few short paragraphs) that may be printed in our quarterly Digest or our E-newsletter.
New Regional Divisions, RVP
The Midwest Region has been split into two sections: Upper Midwest and Lower Midwest. Joe Smith will be handling the Upper Midwest (Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North and South Dakota) and Vernell Boyd in Texas will serve as the RVP for the Lower Midwest (Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana).

Leroy Bull, currently the RVP for the Northeast, will be rotating over to assume the International RVP role as soon as an RVP for the Northeast is selected.

We are also looking to fill the RVP position for the Northwest

Anyone wishing to volunteer for these positions should please submit their names to Bess Cutter; she can be reached at bessva@cox.net
phone: 757 335 2100.

LeroyDowsing Specialty List
Leroy Bull and his Dowsing Specialty List committee have reached the point where they want members to submit their names to be on this list.

There are five categories that will be listed: Water, Earth/Earth Energies, Missing/Lost, Personal Well Being, Wisdom/Spirituality.

Those wishing to be listed must be professionals in their field, and willing and able to eventually submit letters from three satisfied clients. Longtime recognized dowsers in various fields will be "grandfathered" in, upon their request to be included. There will be an annual fee to cover the administrative costs of managing such as detail-oriented list. The list will be posted on the ASD website, available to any member of the public seeking assistance.

We are in special need of water dowsers, and especially those who can map dowse for water. Headquarters and all the RVP are getting an increased number of calls for this specialty. We are asking you to look over your chapter membership and tell anyone suitable to this project to please contact Leroy. Leroy's contact information is: leebull-masterdowser@juno.com , phone: 215 348 8286

If any chapter changes its contact information, or it is incorrect as it appears in the Digest or on the website, the proper procedure is to inform Bess Cutter AND Scot Foxx (ASD membership, membership@dowsers.org, 802-684-3417) and include your date of contact in the email (very important so we know which contact is most current), and the correct contact information. Please do not contact Will Clark, our webmaster, or Sybil Carey, our Digest editor as they only print what comes from Bess and Scot and multiple contacts get confusing. We are organizing this way as otherwise there are several versions floating around. Many thanks.

Thank you
Thank you to all the Chapter Presidents for the amazing work you do in the field, bringing information about dowsing to the public. We appreciate you... You are the lifeblood of our organization, the folks who are the dowsing wisdom keepers for your area of our great country. We very much look forward to starting our national dialogue on June 18 and hope you will join us. You are each very, very important, and we want your voice to be heard.
