Teamwork ...
It always amazes me when events go off with a big hit ... it usually happens with a handful of eager ... hard working folks.
It's hard to get volunteers and even paid help these days. But those few who give it their all reap many benefits.
"The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual."
Vince Lombardi, football coach for the NFL (1913-1970)
"The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime." ~Babe Ruth
This past weekend - teamwork prevailed! From the Flag Day Celebration to the Company 1 Fire Department Pork Festival to the Sound Movement Arts Music Recital - if it weren't for all the dedicated staff and volunteers to make all these events and many others happen - many many people would have been quite disappointed.
And ... it's just not the paid staff and the volunteers who make an event so special and full of memories ... for each individual who supports the event with their presence - is "what it's all about" ...
Make sure you take the time to remember ALL those who make our communities what they are!
Through pictures ... we recap a few of the memories ... enjoy ... click on each photo to see slide show ...

Looking for something for the kids to do this summer? Nature Quest is a series of nature workshops held throughout the summer and are open to all boys and girls ages 6 to 9. The first workshop will be held Wednesday, June 24, with a "Bloomin' in June" theme. The next workshop takes place Wednesday, August 26, with a "Buggin' Out" theme. Nature Quest engages youth in hands-on learning activities that promote environmental awareness, as well as an appreciation of the exciting world of nature and the outdoors. Cost to participate is $3 per class or $5 for both June and August classes. Each workshop takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. in the large conference room of the Powhatan Public Library in Fighting Creek Park. These workshops are sponsored by the Goochland Powhatan Master Gardeners and Powhatan 4-H program. Class size is limited so registration is required. For older youth, ages 9 to 13, an Extended Nature Quest will be offered July 8, 9 and 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. To pre-register for any of the Nature Quest workshops, contact Cathy Howland at the Powhatan Extension Office, 3872 Old Buckingham Road, 598-5640 or email chowland@vt.edu.
