There are a few important water gardening house keeping chores come up this time of year.
1. Algae Bloom happens this time of year.
Barley is one of the best preventatives. Available in barley bales, pellets or extract. Get it in the water NOW. It will help keep the algae at bay.

Activated Carbon. more pond info3. You should be adding bacteria on a regular basis. Now is the time to switch
to
Cold Water Bacteria. It is formulated to work better in cold water.
4. Once the water temperature drops below 55 degrees koi and goldfish will stop eating. Switching to a
lower protein fish food will help lead to cleaner, clearer water and more colorful fish.
5. Aquatic Plants. As the leaves begin to brown and drop trim them about 1" above the water line.
Tender perennial aquatics must be brought in before the first freeze.
6. If you have a tropical or night blooming Lily they are simply 'stunning' right now. In contrast, the Hardy lilies are slowing down their bloom cycle with more yellow leaves and fewer blooms. Winter over your Tropical Lily by bringing it in before the first freeze.
