I had the privilege of spending time recently with Rachel Eve Holmes.  Rachel is a member of the Grace Chancel Choir and will soon be stepping up to coordinate the Grace Presents concert series.

This past weekend she performed as part of the Neale-Silva Competition Winners' Recital, a great start to what promises to be a very promising career as a performer of classical music.

Name:  Rachel Eve Holmes

Birth City: Jonesboro, Georgia. My family roots go very deep   in Georgia!

Member of Grace since: June 2011

Favorite Childhood Memory: Going to the county Carnival and Fair with my grandpa, Charles.

Early Bird or Night Owl: Both! I have way too much energy and drink a lot of coffee!

I knew I was an adult when: Just this year, when I started to file my own taxes as a professional musician!

Beloved blog, website, or TV/radio program: I use a classical singer's resource website almost every day, www.yaptracker.com. It is an endless resource for jobs, gigs, and scholarships available all over the world for young opera singers!

Favorite book to foist on all of your friends: Bubbles, Beverly Sills' first autobiography.

#1 item on my bucket list: Go to Italy and study Italian vocal repertoire as a Fulbright Scholar.

Physical object that represents your life's work or passion:
My music notebook!

What is your first memory of God: When I was six at a Billy Graham crusade with my father, I really felt His presence for the first time. It still gives me chills to this day!

One thing no one would guess about you: I am the daughter of an 80's rock star!

Summer Coffee Hour
If you'd like to have Coffee Hour during the summer, please consider volunteering to  host one Sunday. This entails making coffee (provided) and/or bringing ice tea as well as lemonade and perhaps one finger food item to share. Minimal set up and clean up are involved. More detailed suggestions are available on the Summer Coffee Hour Guidelines sheet. Copies are also available on the bulletin board next to the coffee pots. The sign-up sheet is there as well. Just sign up; there is no longer a Coffee Hour Coordinator. The Kitchen Committee is working on a plan for Coffee Hours in the Fall. Please contact the Rector if you have questions.
