What Goes Up Must Come Down
By Rachel Klinge
Did you wake up this morning with a song in your heart? Did you wake up by praising God and praying for His love to be poured out? Paul and Silas, even in one of their darkest hours were found praising God. Praise went up and freedom rained down! Acts 16:25-16 reads,"25Around midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26Suddenly, there was an earthquake so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken. All the doors immediately flew open, and everyone's chains were unfastened." In school we are taught Newton's law - what goes up must come down. That is right, the law of gravity. Gravity is defined as an attractive force which all matter possesses. Every bit of matter attracts every other bit of matter. I don't know if you ever think of yourself as an "attractive force", but you are one! Spiritually speaking, as a Christian, I believe the pull toward you is even stronger than you realize. We are to be sending up our prayers and praise. Zechariah 10:1 says, "Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field." The Scriptures instructs us to ask the Lord, so He will send refreshing rain down. 1 Kings 8 expounds on prayer in this way, saying that when we pray forgiveness, liberty, breakthrough, refreshing, provision, healing, protection, and compassion would come pouring down. Take time this week to ask God for people, opportunities, for an outpouring of His Spirit that reveals His goodness and love. And remember: never hold back your praise and prayers, for what goes up must come down!

Dear Friends, The French translation of Thanksgiving is "Action de grace". The idea this communicates is two-fold. First, our gratitude flows from the activity of God's abundant grace in our lives. Second, thanksgiving activates God's grace! We pray that in this thanksgiving season you experience the mighty working of His grace in your life as you express your gratitude!
If you are new at New Life, we'd love to have you join us at our upcoming NewComer's lunch. If you've been around a little longer, and are ready to become committed and connected as a member, please sign up for our membership class called New Life 101.
