Seek First the Kingdom of God
By Eric Lucan
A couple of weeks ago I shared about the 5 loaves and 2 fish on a Sunday evening. The disciples had found themselves in an interesting situation-how to feed so many people. They were filled with worry as they tried to figure out the problem naturally. Some disciples told Jesus to send the people away to avoid the problem, Philip attempted to calculate the financial impact of feeding such a crowd, and Andrew assisted in taking a boy's lunch. Everyone was worried. In today's economic environment, worry is common and as a result, often times our answers are similar to those of the disciples. What is interesting to me is that in the story, there was one group who didn't worry-the people. They were the ones who received the blessing of the multiplication of food. Why? In Matthew 6:33, Jesus said, "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." That Sunday evening I felt it was important to pray for the current job market, and I received a very encouraging testimony from Nora Belt a few days later. Nora wrote: Dear Pastor Eric, You asked us to let you know if we have an answer to this unemployment situation. My son Greg lost his job in November. He called me to have lunch with him and I prayed for him and told him to give it to the Lord. At the beginning of his unemployment, the 4th month, he called me on the phone and told me, "Mom, I was praying today and I turned it all over the God". He told the Lord that, "I just got my last severance check and I am in a desperate situation that I am giving to you." The next day he got a call from an insurance company in the city to come in for an interview. He went for the interview. They liked him and he got the job. We also prayed for Greg at our Thursday afternoon ladies prayer meeting.

Dear Friends,
This is the day that the Lord has made! We pray that this week's issue strengthens you in the Lord!
If you missed last Sunday evening, take a listen to this week's podcast, and be encouraged through the way that God spoke great and mighty things to Jeremiah in the midst of his confinement.
Take a moment to be encouraged by the exciting testimony in this week's LifeBlog.
And, as we enter the 3rd week of our 40 days of united prayer, please take note of the special prayer gathering on Saturday evening in the New Life sanctuary.
See you Sunday!

Special Prayer & Worship Gathering - This Saturday (March 14th), 7PM @ New Life
We have a last-minute opportunity to host a prayer and worship gathering that we decided to seize. Several leaders (see below) in the prayer movement that are friends of New Life will be coming together for an evening of worship, intercession, and equipping/impartation. We will seek God's heart in worship, receive encouragement in the realm of prayer, and intercede over our region together.
In this 40-day period of unified prayer, we didn't want to pass up a great opportunity for our community to be further activated in prayer. Understandably, many have previous engagements, but we welcome you to join us if you can!
Worship & Prayer Leaders Jamie Dickson Jamie currently resides in the beautiful state of Maine, and is the pastor of CRAVE ministries, and assists in pastoral duties for Lighthouse Christian Fellowships. He also helps over see the Maine House of Prayer Network.
David Fritch David recently served as co-director Burn Shawnee for a year and half and is serving on the Burn Staff as Internship coordinator.
Sean Feucht Sean and his wife Kate are the founders and directors of Burn 24-7: powerful, prolonged experiences of worshipping the Father and intercession for the nations.
Roger Joyner Roger leads the Justice House of Prayer SF community. They carry a mandate for intercession in the city of San Francisco in the realm of heaven's justice.
Melissa Gilbreath Melissa serves as the Community Growth Development Director for Burn 24-7, and has been involved in launching Burn communities in many U.S. cities, as well as the first international Burns in Indonesia and Turkey.
Pastor Caleb & members of our wonderful pastoral team will also help to lead this gathering.
