Perfect Timing
by John Bidaurreta
Ps 32:8 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. NKJV It is through our relationship with the Lord that he leads and guides us. As we continue to walk with him everyday, we can truly see the hand of God opening and closing doors all around us. Michael Bourdeaux is the head of Keston College, a research unit devoted to helping believers in what were communist lands. His Russian teacher gave him a letter that told in detail of the persecution of the church by the KGB. Michael Bourdeaux felt like he was hearing the true voice of the persecuted church. The letter was simply signed Varavva and Pronina. In August of 1964 Michael went on a trip to Moscow. During his first evening there, his friends told of how the persecution was getting worse. They specifically talked about how the old church of St. Peter and Paul had been demolished. That night they decided to go see what had happened. Amongst the rubble that used to be a very beautiful church, he met two women who had climbed the fence to get a better look at what had happened. When he told them that he was a foreigner and that he had come to find out what was happening in the Soviet Union, they invited him to come over to their place. Once they got there, another woman asked why he had come to the USSR. He told them how he had received a letter from the Ukraine via Paris from Varavva and Pronina. When the ladies heard this, they broke down in floods of tears. Michael thought he might have said something wrong, but then they said, this is Varavva and this is Pronina. The population of Russia is over 140 million and the Ukraine, where the letter was written, is over 800 miles from Moscow. He and these women would not have met if either party had arrived at the demolished church an hour earlier or later. This is one of the ways that the Lord called Michael to his life's work. It was God's perfect timing that brought Michael to Moscow in 1964. In the same way, the Lord will lead and guide us into divine appointments and amazing opportunities for His Glory.

Dear Friends, Blessings on You! Summer is winding down, and merging into Indian Summer/Fall. The new school year is already starting! On the Hebrew calendar, the fall season is where the festivals culminate in the feast of Tabernacles. This feast calls for a trumpet to sound gathering all of the people of God together, and it's a time of ingathering of the harvest that has ripened through the summer months. It's time to re-gather with strength as a congregation as we move into the fall. We encourage you to engage in the upcoming outreaches (Friend Day & the Alpha Course) and invite others to come with you. Sign up for the Life Groups that launch September 17th, which were a huge success over the summer. God says, "I will gather others also, gather them in with those already gathered (Isaiah 56:8). Let's join in His work! In Jesus' Love and Purpose, Caleb & Rachel |
