Stay the Course
Rachel Klinge
A year ago, I decided to take-up running after taking a five-year hiatus. I thought running down the hill in front of my house would be an easy task. To my surprise, half way down the hill, I was gasping for breath. My head and lungs hurt, and I had the thought, "No wonder they tell you to contact your physician before beginning any regular exercise regime!" I didn't give-up though! I kept at it.
When things get difficult or even hurt, most of us want to quit. I believe the Holy Spirit is speaking to our hearts, "Don't give-in! Don't give-up! Stay the Course!" James 5:10-11 says, 10Take the old prophets as your mentors. They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God. 11What a gift life is to those who stay the course!
You've heard, of course, of Job's staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That's because God cares, cares right down to the last detail. (Continued below) | |

Greetings in Jesus!
The Apostle Paul wrote that "the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel." Every situation, even our weaknesses can further the gospel when our hearts are surrendered to God!
This is the time for the gospel to advance in the Bay Area, and in our community. This summer, let's lift up our eyes, and look at people with the eyes of Jesus. There are lives, souls everywhere waiting to hear the good news!
Share the love of Jesus with someone. Listen to their story. Share the story of God's reality in your life. Be the light of Jesus to them. Invite them to church. The fields are ready for harvest! Let's do the work of the evangelist together!

Stay the Course
Rachel Klinge
Jesus told a parable in Luke 18 to teach us that we are to persevere. He told a story about a helpless widow standing before an old, corrupt judge to request protection. The old judge didn't care about people and was not a believer. He refused her request and sent her away. Yet again, she came pleading with him, "My rights have been violated!" Once again, he refused. She didn't give up! She came again, and again, and again, until one day the judge said, "Enough! I will give you what you want! Please stop coming and asking me!" Take notice! Jesus asked, "But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on the earth when he returns?" Don't give up! Repeat this Declaration of Faith out-loud: "When things seem hopeless in the natural world and the storms of life are threatening, I will not be afraid. My faith has gone before me and I have God's Word that I will come to no harm. No matter what the circumstance may be, I remain secure. By faith, I speak to whatever situation I am facing and command it to get in line with the perfect will of God."
