You've probably seen the popular slogan on bumper stickers and baseball caps: Life is Good. I even have a decorative wooden plaque hanging in our living room with those three words painted on it. I bought the sign a few years ago when I was experiencing a painful and prolonged season of physical injury and disability. As my entire family and I wrestled with God and the circumstances, I bought the sign and hung it up, hoping the ever-present declaration would magically affirm that life was good even when it felt so bad. I longed to believe the pop culture sentiment - that life is good. I wanted to feel the joy of being alive again. But my daily life continued to be a frustrating physical struggle, which affected me spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Even on "good days," there was enough pain and hardship all around me - in the lives of friends, neighbors, co-workers and even in the news - to continue questioning the sentiment Life is Good. Yet there was the sign on my living room wall. Something about it started to irk me. Whose idea was that sign anyway (besides mine for buying it)?

Greetings in Jesus!
Revival is breaking forth in our nation! The Holy Spirit is being poured out in a fresh way. These really are exciting times to be serving the Lord together. In Lakeland, Florida, (Todd Bentley Revival Meetings) and in Fort Mills (Morning Star Ministries) amazing things are happening. They have been in extended meetings for almost 40 days in Lakeland!
A new beginning has started in our nation. I encourage you to check out www.freshfire.ca and let the Lord fan the flame for what He has promised to do here in the North Bay and the San Francisco Bay Area. Also check out the article called "The History and Future of the Present Revival" by Rick Joyner. Let's hear what the Spirit is saying to the church!

Yours in Him,
Caleb and Rachel Klinge, Lead Pastors |

We moved again recently and I thought about not putting up the wooden plaque. But I like the way it looks over the entertainment center so I gave it another try. A few weeks ago, I was contending in prayer for a loved one caught in an unexpected and painful circumstance. As I wept for his loss and felt overwhelmed by his great pain, I happened to lift my head and open my eyes. The first thing I saw was the sign - Life is Good. And the minute I saw it, I heard a clear response in my spirit - Life is Hard. God is Good
Life can be hard. Just ask the young man who threatened to jump from the Rowland Avenue overpass this week. People are in pain all around us - in the world and even in the church. No one is exempt from difficulties and challenges in life. And yet, we seem to judge that God is not good when life is not "good." Who told us that life must be good in order for God to be good? He is good in the midst of every painful circumstance, betrayal and loss, just as He is good in the midst of every joy and positive circumstance we experience. When I shift my thinking this way, no matter what the circumstances, I am free to remain in positive relationship with God no matter what is happening in me, to me, or around me. So one of these days soon, I might grab a marker and update that sign on my living room wall or maybe I'll get a bumper sticker made online to declare: Life is Hard. God is Good! Hallelujah!
