The gospel is to be preached everywhere, and God also
calls us to be involved somewhere specific. We are involved in missions
everyday in our own community, and we are supporting a growing network of international missionaries, projects, and outreaches at New Life.
We are currently receiving our annual faith promises for 2008 (March 2008-February 2009)
Thank you for letting God's heart beat in yours
for the nations!

Life's Hiccups
Shannon Purvis (Kingdom Writers)
The line was indeed Markīs life, and mine, and all of ours. As we walk through life, we have peaks and valleys. Some days are good, some are not. But we go through, accustomed to the regular rhythm of the path He has set us on. And suddenly, we hiccup. The hiccup may be sickness, a job loss, the death of a loved one, falling into sin. And then, He is there to get us back in line with the steady beat of His heart. Other times, we're carried upward past where we were before, at least for a little while. But we donīt stay up there forever. A bit of a downward jog. And we realize that, even if things arenīt the same, they're not bad, and we return to a steady pattern that is our new normal. After a while, we hiccup again, and there He is still.
As I watched our lives printing out this way across the EKG strip, the Lord told me to look at the two little black dots that mark where each line is headed. I saw that no matter where the golden line's dot jumped to, the green line's dot held steady in the same place. I suddenly realized that the green line was God. Faithful, unchanging, steady, ever-present. Even the line itself was thicker, brighter, stronger against the dark background than the golden one. And no matter where the golden line jumped to on the lower half, no matter what shape it took, the line above moved steadily along with it. Right up until it was time to go home. | |

Life's Hiccups

Recently, on a foggy Friday morning, I sat in the recovery room of Novato Community Hospital watching my husband regain consciousness after a medical test that required anaesthesia. Mark lay in the barred bed, hooked up to an IV and a monitor, and I watched his life beep by. I watched the tiny black dot rising and falling across the bottom of the screen, tracing its golden line of peaks and valleys in a steady pattern, As I watched, a green line across the top of the screen, led by another black dot, held a flat and unchanging position as it cycled through its paces.
Suddenly, Mark hiccupped. Dutifully, the little black dot along the bottom jumped rather violently up and down, tracing a jagged jig through the little golden path before it returned to its more normally graceful little curves. Then he hiccupped again, and it repeated its sharp motions. I watched his hiccups go by, a little amused, glad to have something take my mind off what we had been going through. Then, slowly, God stepped in and started to show me what was really happening in the room that day.
