And I have a new, huge family. When I looked out over the congregation on the day that I became a member of New Life Christian Center, at first all I saw was a sea of ovals. Then suddenly, like an adjustment of the focus of a camera, I saw individuals looking back at me, welcoming me, and I realized that these people, all of YOU, are my brothers and sisters. Really. Really. I almost can't get my mind around it. Thank you for putting your arms around me.
I haven't earned any of these blessings. I don't deserve them because of what I have done or who I was. They are gifts from God's Grace, and I will work to be worthy of them. And now God is showing me wonderful things that I can do with my life. I've become a Kingdom Writer, and I am writing better and more prolifically than ever before, and I am writing stories for His work-stories that I hope will bring joy to children. Every new day brings a new challenge, and it is all the greatest adventure I ever had. I'm thrilled, and I can't wait to see what's coming next.

I was thinking the other day about how I would never have envisioned myself as a born again Christian before last August 2 when I was personally introduced to Jesus Christ. Before that, while I had heard of being born again, I didn't believe in it. I thought that people who said they were born again were using a metaphor.
But now my whole life has been re-jigged, as if God had picked me up like a broken toy and, by re-aligning my head and my heart, has made me new and BETTER-shiny-a different creature entirely. I used to be a wooden doll with jointed limbs and painted-on face and clothes. I looked like a person. I tried to be a good person-but I didn't have a clue.
From this new perspective, I realize now that I was crying inside-empty, lonely. I filled my head with learning, worked hard at friendships and my marriage, raised good children, but I ended up broken-with a broken heart and a broken mind and a body that I was trying to get rid of so that I could find some peace. Now, I am grateful for all that painful experience, but then I couldn't see past it to new possibilities.
Last August, when I was at a very low place, my daughter, Jenny, helped me find the way to Jesus. Now I am becoming more well and whole every moment, and I am not alone. I am loved. I am truly the most blessed, the most grateful person I know. There are not enough languages to say thank you in. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for healing all my brokenness.
I don't care anymore who did what to me. I am not good yet at forgiving all of it, but I'm learning to let it go-all of it-so that I can be completely free of those chains. I've come up out of the dark, and I'm shaking my feet free of the dirt of my captivity.
