Presentation: LHD Immunization Activities after Budget Cuts 

Lawyers, Guns, and (No) Money: Public Health Management Decisions in the Wild West, a presentation originally featured at the 2011 NACCHO Annual Conference, describes substantial budget cuts and management decisions that impacted Maricopa County (AZ) Department of Public Health's tuberculosis program, school-based influenza activities, and policy efforts. 2012 Model Practice Submissions
NACCHO will accept model practice applications October 10 through November 11, 2011. Since 2003, NACCHO's Model Practice Awards program has honored innovative LHD programs. If you have any questions concerning the Model Practice program please e-mail practices@naccho.org  and a member of NACCHO membership team will respond. Become an ACHIEVE Community

NACCHO recently released a request for applications for ACHIEVE (Action Communities for Health, Innovation, and EnVironmental changE). The 2012 ACHIEVE initiative will include an emphasis on peer mentoring. Three new communities (mentees) and three current ACHIEVE communities (mentors) will be selected, for a total of six funded communities. Both potential applicants must submit a joint application. Accreditation Support Initiative

NACCHO is pleased to announce a new funding opportunity for public health departments to prepare for or undertake accreditation activities. Eligible applicants must identify an area of need around accreditation readiness and must demonstrate how they will use these funds to address this need and be better prepared to achieve accreditation. Applications are due by Friday, October 28. An informational call outlining this funding opportunity will be held on Monday, October 17, at 4PM ET.

NACCHO's Immunization and Infectious Disease Toolkits are intended to provide local health departments (LHDs) with resources related to immunization and infectious disease prevention and control practices. Examples of tools include templates, guides, community resources and much more. Log in to submit your own resources to the Toolkit to share with other LHDs.
