NACCHO Policy Statement: Third Party Billing for Immunization Services
NACCHO has a new policy statement that urges support for local health departments' efforts to conduct third-party-billing for immunization services. It can be found on NACCHO's website.
Online Course for Healthcare Providers: Yellow Fever Disease and Vaccine
The CDC's Traveler's Health Branch has created an online course for healthcare providers who want to learn more about yellow fever disease and yellow fever vaccine. There are two lessons that take approximately one hour each. Continuing education credits are available for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and health educators. The cost is free, and providers can register here.
Make Vaccines Part of Adolescent Back-to-School Plans The American Academy of Pediatrics is partnering with the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) and other leading organizations to improve immunization rates among adolescents. The NFID's newly updated website provides up-to-date information about vaccines for adolescents. In addition to vaccine recommendations, the site includes information on the recent outbreaks of pertussis and measles in the US.
Preventive Services Covered by Private Health Plans under the ACA
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) created new requirements that private insurers cover preventive services, including routine immunizations, screenings for conditions such as cancer and high cholesterol, and preventive services for women. This fact sheet outlines these prevention requirements and discusses the impact they may have. A table is also available with a summary of federally-recommended preventive services.

NACCHO Immunization Videos Page NACCHO has gathered videos addressing vaccination into one convenient place. Watch short videos covering immunization issues, including influenza, pertussis, adolescent immunization, and personal stories about vaccine preventable diseases. Videos range from humorous to serious and target a variety of ages. NACCHO's MCAH Sentinel Network
NACCHO is currently undertaking a multi-year project to strengthen local health department (LHD) Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH) programs. As part of this project, NACCHO is creating a Sentinel Network to further increase its understanding of local MCAH and would like to invite you to participate. LHD staff members who are working to improve health outcomes for MCAH populations are eligible to participate in the Sentinel Network. The deadline to register online is September 20, 2011.
