Maryville Church Shooting: Topic of Karen's Interview on KFUO Radio TODAY (3/10) at 4:30 PM Central

It is impossible to be a Christian and not feel the impact of the pastor's death at the hands of a gunman yesterday in Maryville, IL.    If there is any place that feels like a refuge, it's a church and yet yesterday's violence makes us also question that belief.

As we process this information, our children are absorbing this news story as well.  What do we say to our children?  Do we ignore it or address it directly?  How much information is too much information?  These and other questions will be explored with Karen on KFUO Radio today at 4:30 central time.  Listen on line at www.kfuoam.org/ or tune in to AM850 in the St Louis area.

Questions for God is the name of a video series that is debuting on YouTube this week.  The goal of the project is to provide concise yet impactful teaching on the questions many Christians have for God.

The first video in this series is "I've Prayed so Why am I Still Sick?" which directly addresses the struggles common to Christians when someone we love is ill.  Too often we've been on our knees, begging God for healing yet the illness has not gone away.  Through the use of scripture and gentle story telling, Karen invites you to view prayer not only through your own desires but through the eyes of God.

At only 7 minutes long, the video makes an excellent opportunity to share God's love with anyone you know currently praying for healing.  Just click below to share this email with a friend.

Why Don't They Understand My Grief?  Friends and family that have stood by you through all the seasons of your life now don't understand your grief.  The people around you bring their own preconceived ideas of how, when and where you should grieve.  Learn how to deal with these misconceptions and find your path to healing through  your grief.

Cancer
NEW! Professional and Peer Counseling
NEW! Joy, Laughter and Hope: New Tools and Techniques for Lifting the Spirit   When helping others overcome hardship, suffering or grief, the primary tool is empathy.  Often there are times when focusing on the positive can relieve despair and rejuvenate healing.  In this presentation, specific techniques such as storytelling, games, humor and ceremonies will be discussed which are useful for overcoming the obstacles of life.

Parenting and Childcare:
NEW! The Difficult Child- Good news: some of the greatest leaders of all times were difficult children. Bad news: they were frustrating, exasperating and often left the parents and childcare workers questioning who is in charge. The difficult child is described as intelligent, quick thinking, persistent, and one who pushes limits and authority. This workshop will focus on assertive parenting skills that are more effective with the difficult child as well as methods of helping the child be responsible for his or her behavior.
