Careful Climbing

According to the Home Safety Council, falls are the
leading cause of home injury deaths.
  • Always use a sturdy ladder, chairs are too dangerous.
  • Place ladder base on even ground using a 4 to 1 ratio -- for every 4 ft. of vertical height, the base should be 1 ft. away from the wall.
  • Always face the ladder when climbing and where slip-resistant shoes.
  • Keep your body centered on the ladder. If your belt buckle passes beyond the ladder rail, you are reaching too far which can cause a fall.
  • Never leave a raised ladder unattended, particularly when children are around.
