Student chapters receive GOLD award

Student Chapter Recognition Award Program


IIE is proud to recognize and reward the accomplishments of exceptional student chapters.The University Chapter Activity Report is the basis for the University Chapter Recognition Program.  The 2012 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards are given based upon points scored on the 11/12 UCAR.

'Today in America' educates public about industrial engineering and IIE

Today in AmericaThe Institute of Industrial Engineers was recently featured on the nationally syndicated TV show "Today in America" as part of the show's American Industry series. The show, hosted by Terry Bradshaw, regularly features stories and firsthand insights from entrepreneurs and leaders within various industries and educates viewers on a wide variety of emerging concepts, suitable for families, businesses, lifestyles and financial futures. This video from "Today in America" informs viewers about the field of industrial engineering and explores the important role that IIE plays in the industry.

Chapter dues checks


Checks for dues rebates have been mailed to Professional and Student chapters.

  • Student chapters: September checks are for January through August activity. Only green and yellow chapters are eligible to receive dues checks.
  • Professional Chapters: September checks are for May through August activity. Only green and yellow chapters are eligible to receive dues checks.
  • Check cashing: Checks must be deposited within 90 days and will not be reissued after that time period.

Best practices presentation


The Student Best Practices Session at the 2012 IIE Annual conference and Expo was packed with attendees. Students from chapters all over the world wanted to learn of the activities of other chapters and to get ideas to bring back to their home chapters.

Student Chapters - 2013 YouTube Video Contest (sponsored by the IIE Industry Advisory Board)


It's video contest time again! IIE encourages your student IIE chapter to create a winning You Tube video that will help provide high school seniors with an understanding of what Industrial Engineering is from a student point of view. IAB members have personally donated prize funds which will be presented at the student mixer during the IIE Annual IE Conference and Expo 2013 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. First place winner will receive $1,000. Additional prizes subject to additional voluntary contributions by IIE-IAB membership.

Society for Health Systems 2013 Student Paper Competition 

The Society for Health Systems (SHS) is pleased to announce the 2013 Undergraduate and Graduate student paper competitions.


Winning submissions will receive a $1,000 cash award and $500 per team for travel expenses to present their projects at the

Healthcare Systems Process Improvement Conference 2013 held March 1-4, 2013, in New Orleans, La. The submission deadline is Nov. 30.

Paper submissions can include multiple student authors and should describe applied projects, research results, case studies, class projects, or other work efforts in which Industrial Engineering skills were applied to a problem arising in Healthcare Systems Engineering. The first author on the paper must be a student.


Judging criteria are based on originality, technical merit, relevance, organization, and quality of the paper.
