May - we come to the close of another program year

May is always an interesting time for the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Many professional and almost all student chapters wind up their program years in May, with networking events, new student officers, and general fun. It's a good time for a chapter to look back, and review what they've done for the year.

I know most of the professional chapters have to do their strategic plans on a calendar year, and the CARs and officer lists are also done in Jan/Feb. Still, many professional boards do their heavy planning during the summer months, and then hit it back hot and heavy come September, right when the students are coming back.

The year has been an active one, with several professional chapters increasing their activity, and multiple student chapters vying to put on the 2014 student conference. The Regional student conference was a success, and it appears that the region will have a strong presence at the National IIE conference (May 20-23). I hope to see you there!

Webinars

Webinars are a great way for folks to learn more about our work, even if they are too far from an IIE Chapter to attend one of its meetings. It's one of the major benefits of being an IIE member, since only you get to see these.
