Finalists of the SEMS Best Paper Competition at the IERC 2011 Engineering Management Track
The Society for Engineering and Management Systems for many years has organized a Best Paper Competition among all the accepted papers of the Engineering Management Track of the Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC). The six finalists for the SEMS Best Paper Competition in 2011, identified by the highest ratings from the double-blind review process for the 68 accepted papers in the Engineering Management Track, represent contributions that are recognized by peers as most impressive pieces of work.
The winner of the competition was determined by a committee of five neutral and experienced evaluators that, through an additional double-blind review process, individually rank ordered the finalists, identifying the best paper with a score of 1, the second best paper with a score of 2 etc. The paper that received the lowest total score in the 2011 competition, and that was, therefore, recognized at the Honors and Awards Banquet of the IIE Annual Conference as the Best Paper of the IERC Engineering Management Track, was authored by Cecilia Martinez, Jennifer Farris and Geert Letens.
All finalists of the competition will be listed in random order in the current and next two issues of our newsletter to provide all SEMS members direct access to these selected papers.
Click here to view abstracts and full papers of two of the finalists. Look for more finalists in future issues of the SEMS Newsletter.
