SHS Committee News: Communications Committee
New - Alina Hsu
Alina Hsu

The SHS Communications Committee, chaired by Alina Hsu, facilitates the development and use of communication channels to broadcast Society events, activities, and services for members, as well as to increase awareness of SHS among the broader healthcare community. The committee is responsible for producing the monthly newsletter; continuously improving the SHS website based on member feedback; and increasing SHS's social media presence by coordinating Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and blogging activities.

Early in 2011 the committee focused on developing a blogging strategy and recruited volunteers to serve on the initial panel of bloggers. This led to the launch of a new blog site in August of 2011. The blog will cover the broad domain of overlap between industrial/systems engineering and healthcare. In addition to industrial engineers, we hope that our audience will include clinicians and healthcare executives. We already have a good cross-section of topics, and encourage you to take a look.

The committee continues to work on enhancing the functionality and ease of use of the SHS website. Facebook, LinkedIn and blog posts are more easily accessible from the SHS website. Monthly visits to the SHS website have increased tenfold from 2010. If you are a blogger or have an interest in blogging, please contact us, and we will get you involved. For more details, including committee members and recent minutes, click here.
