An Honor and a Privilege
After three years and 11 months, my term as Northeast Region Vice President will soon be over. This is the last time I will be sharing thoughts in this portion of the Regional eNewsletter.
I have had the privilege to be part of some big changes and I hope big improvements in the nature of the region. When I was elected, it was to be vice president for the obscurely named "Region 1." But changing the name to something people could relate to was just the start. The Regional Vice Presidents and IIE decided to change the very nature of the RVP position and the Regions transforming it from facilitating chapter leadership to also providing real services especially to at-large members. Everyone in the region with a registered e-mail address has been receiving this eNewsletter for the past few years. We have been sponsoring a series of webinars that can be joined live or downloaded and viewed at your leisure. There is a new regional Web page and a LinkedIn professional networking group. Professional participation at what was formally a strictly student regional conference has been increasing. We have offered Lean Sigma certification training locally. And we have created a support network across professional and student chapters to assist in energizing local programs as well.
