President's Message |

As we approach the December holiday season, I want to personally wish each of you a very joyous time in whatever fashion you choose to celebrate it. For many of us, this will represent a much needed break from the rigors of our daily occupations, with the opportunity for some welcome down time with our family and friends.
As the year comes to a close, I want to reflect on what the Process Industries Division has been able to accomplish in 2009. More from the president

PID Webinar is a Success! |
The Process Industries Division hosted another successful webinar on Nov. 6, Work Measurement and Lean Applications in the Process Industries, presented by Luis Armendariz. The webinar was well attended and feedback has been very positive. Recording of the webinar and of all past PID webinars

PID at the Annual Conference
PID again plans to host a track of presentations at the IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2010 in Cancún, Mexico, next June. Our track is currently scheduled for Monday, June 7. The current plan is to begin with our annual Process Industries Division Town Hall Meeting at 8 a.m., followed by five presentations describing industrial engineering tools applied to process industry problems.
Monthly PID Advisory Board telephone meetings
The PID board holds a one-hour call each month, both to discuss administrative details (approximately 20 minutes) and to conduct a roundtable discussion on a topic of current interest to IEs (20 to 30 minutes). All PID members are welcome to participate.

| Election of PID Officers For 2010-2011 |
We will soon be holding elections for officers to serve for the April 2010-March 2011 period. As president-elect, Bennett Foster will be assuming the duties of president, so his position as president-elect must be filled. The position of secretary-treasurer, currently held by Vincent Howell, also needs to be filled. Please be thinking about becoming a candidate for one of these positions. An official call for nominees will be issued in January.
