The mission of the Lean Division is to support its members by fostering networks, offering programs and maintaining resources that represent their core competencies and/or areas of specialized practice. The 2009-2010 Lean Division Board is comprised of the following members:

2010 Industrial Engineering Research Conference June 5-9, 2010 Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Hotel Cancún, Mexico
The Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC) Track on Lean Systems is a forum for researchers and practitioners to share research focused on the application of Lean Systems concepts to improve organizational performance.
As chairs of the Lean Systems Track, we invite you to organize a session, submit a research paper or submit an abstract for a research presentation in any of the Lean Systems related areas such as:
Lean Manufacturing
Lean in Service Operations
Lean Logistics
Lean Supply Chain Management
Lean Implementations in Different Manufacturing and Service Industries
Lean Business Process Optimization
Lean Simulation and Modeling
Lean Education and Simulation Games
Lean System Performance Evaluation
Organizational Culture and Value Systems for Lean
Managing Risks in Lean Systems
Global Trends in Lean and other related areas
You are invited to present your work at one or more sessions. Each session will share 75 minutes among 3 to 4 presenters. While full length paper (6 pages, peer-reviewed) submissions are strongly recommended, presentations without a paper are also acceptable.
The important deadlines for the conference are:
Abstract submissions: Nov. 20 Notification: Dec. 20 Submission of papers: Jan. 30, 2010 Notification of acceptance/declines of papers: March 15, 2010 Final paper due: March 30, 2010 Presenting author registration due: April 2, 2010

Lean Teaching Award |
|
Annual Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Lean Concepts
Deadline for nominations is Dec. 15, 2009
The Lean Division of IIE invites nominations for its annual national award recognizing excellence in teaching lean concepts.
The award will be presented at the upcoming IIE Annual Conference in Cancun, Mexico, June 5-9, 2010.
Nominations may be made by a faculty colleague or a student who has taken the course from the candidate
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must be a member of IIE.
- The course for which they are being recognized must be a lean course within an industrial engineering department or a closely related program (examples of closely related programs include systems engineering and engineering management, examples of course titles might be lean manufacturing systems, lean system modeling and simulation, lean logistics, lean supply networks, lean practice and management, just-in-time production system, lean six-sigma, etc).
- Course materials for which they are being recognized must have been developed by the candidate.

Lean Student Paper Competition 2010 |

Purpose:
The Student Paper Competition will be held each year to honor outstanding papers in the field of lean research and practices.The papers should demonstrate or describe the use of techniques such as simulation, lean principle implementation, alternative designs, kaizen implementation, etc. Both undergraduate and graduate students and design teams are invited to submit papers. The award will be given each year at the IIE Annual Conference if there is a suitable recipient.
Three awards may be given upon recommendation of the selection committee. The winners must present their papers in the IERC Lean Track at the 2010 IIE Annual Conference.
First Place: $600 and complimentary annual conference registration and Honors & Awards Banquet ticket Second Place: $300 Third Place: $100

| Important Scholarship Deadlines |
The deadline for nominations for all IIE scholarships is Nov. 16 with the exception of the SHS Scholarship which is due on Dec. 1.
Students must be nominated by IE department heads.
