Change is in the air I like the fall. I know that for many the autumn represents a coming to an end - getting ready to hibernate for the winter. For me it is an energizing period after the dog days of summer have slowed me too close to a stop. When I was younger it was the beginning of the new school year full of change and promise. Even now as a professional the month of August is slow with many on vacation and little getting done. But now the rush is on. All those things that need to be completed before the end of the year - before Thanksgiving really. And time to start making plans for next year, for the spring. So for me, Labor Day always seemed to mark the real start of the new year. And so it is IIE. In some ways, we have spent the last 3 years preparing for the next nine months. Our goal has been to increase the level of service provided throughout the Northeast region. We put in place a great leadership team and, working with the chapter presidents, developed and implemented a strategy to achieve this goal. And we are seeing the fruits of our labor. Below you will find information on exciting webinars that will be held this month and next, and there will be at least one and perhaps two more before the year is out - and then even more in the new year. Below you will also find information on an exciting workshop - an Advanced Standard Work Workshop in upstate New York. And at the end of March we are hoping to have our best ever Regional Conference providing benefits for students, professionals and employers. It is also a time of change. Next April 1st will mark the end of my second two-year term as Northeast Regional Vice President. Given the experiences of implementing the regional model, the RVPs voted to extend future terms to three years. It is time for new ideas and new energy, and I am very excited about the two individuals who I have nominated. And this fall, you will be able to vote for one to take my place. Happy New Year! John Corliss
