Sapsis Rigging teams with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
| |
Bill Sapsis, president of Sapsis Rigging is pleased to announce that Royal Caribbean Cruise Ltd. has chosen Sapsis Rigging to conduct safety inspections on all of Royal Caribbean International and Azamara Club Cruises ships.
The combined fleet numbers over 24 ships.
"Needless to say" commented Bill, "It's a huge honor and we're thrilled that Royal Caribbean has chosen Sapsis Rigging for this project. It's a terrific opportunity for us and serves as recognition of the commitment we have made to safety in the entertainment industry and the years of experience our inspectors bring to each venue. While the size of the fleet is formidable, our teams of inspectors, all of whom are ETCP certified, are well prepared for the challenge. The equipment, especially on the newer ships, is state of the art but getting to them will be a bit of a challenge. As you can imagine, there's not a lot of wasted space on a cruise ship." The scope of the inspection program includes safety inspections of the performance spaces on each ship. Most ships have two venues but the Oasis class of ships which include Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas have three to four.
Sapsis Rigging has been conducting safety inspections since 1983 and has inspected venues in 49 states as well as venues in Latin American and Canada.

Greetings from NATEAC
|
The next North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (NATEAC) will take place on July 22 and 23, 2012 in the New York City Hilton Hotel. We are very excited about the move and are very sure you will enjoy not only the venue but also all that mid-town New York City has to offer. Your feedback after the 2008 NATEAC told us that we had found the right mix of panels and events and that everyone had a wonderful conference experience. So, not wishing to fix something that isn't broken, we will once again be offering 2 days of panels preceded and followed by social events. We are currently organizing panels and looking for sponsors. If you have an idea for a panel topic; something that you think a group of world class professionals would find interesting and informative, please let us know. If you or your company wishes to become a sponsor, then by all means, please contact us. For more information and to join the NATEAC mailing list, visit the NATEAC website www.nateac.org 267.278.4561 All the best, Bill Sapsis and the NATEAC staff.

He is also a USITT Fellow and a former two-term member of the USITT Board of Directors. Richard Cadena, founder of APT and ETCP Recognized Trainer, said of the addition, "I can't think of a better match for APT than Bill Sapsis. He is highly regarded as one of the best teachers in his field and anyone who is serious about a career in entertainment rigging, from the least experienced to the very most experienced, can benefit from taking his classes. I'm thrilled with his association with APT." Sapsis commented, "I don't know who this clown is, but I kinda felt sorry for him, so I reluctantly said yes." |
