Sapsis Rigging Chain Runners

Chain Runner
Chain Runners™ are designed to control power, audio and data cables in a moving truss application. The Chain Runner™ clamps around the chain on electric chain hoists and rides up and down with the hoist as it is operated. By placing the appropriate number of Chain Runners™ on the chain you can neatly and safely page the cables out of the way without the need for an expensive cable take up reel or an ad hoc rope rigging contraption.

Safe RopeYou Snooze, You Lose
or why it pays to stay awake in Bill's seminars

Greetings Bill,

When you gave the rigging presentation last Spring, you told us a couple of stories about people riding up to the head block on runaway line sets. You reminded us that people often do not let go until they hit the top.
This morning, I was 1st flyman at our main theater,  pre-hanging a show for [a couple of famous singers]. I let in a black drop, which was then transferred to another pipe.  I had my boys up on the loading bridge transfer the same weight to its new pipe. Somehow, the new line set had some extra arbor weight already on it, so when I released the dog, the arbor dropped out of control right away.  I already had one hand on the operating line, so I grabbed with the other one and was able to yell, "It's running!" as my feet left the floor.  I caught the rail with one foot, but kept rising.  That's when I heard your voice saying, "Let go of the rope."
My boys upstairs had gotten hands on by that time and slowed it down enough for me to drop, land on my feet, grab the line again, pull the back line toward me and grab a twist.  We lost a little skin off our fingers, but saved the floor from a nasty dent.  Now I know one more thing that can go wrong.
Thanks a million for the voice.
