Sting at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
Sting performed medieval songs, some holiday inspired, some decidedly not, at St. John the Divine in New York City last week. Sapsis Rigging was there to provide rigging design, management, equipment and crew for the critically acclaimed event. Michael Sapsis was the lead rigger and was assisted by Daryll John. Rigging in a building that was designed and built pretty much before electricity can be a real challenge but, Michael, who has been rigging in this space for many years, took it all in stride. The show looked and sounded great. Thanks guys.

Holiday Greetings From Uncle Bill
While it's true that we get to do some really cool jobs in
spectacular spaces like St. John's it's also true that we get to work in
smaller venues that don't get as much visibility. Over the past month, for instance,
we did renovations for a small Catholic High school in Evansville, Indiana
and a University in Allentown, PA. We've sold a mess of Focus
Track™ to people in Arizona, Oregon, California and Kentucky. One of our
steady clients, Princeton University, brought us back to conduct ongoing
maintenance on a winch system we installed many years ago. And our
inspection teams visited 5 venues that we see regularly and 6 others that are
new to us. Needless to say, it's been a busy month.
Smack dab in the
middle of that busy month, Ildelis Cruz and I went to LDI in Orlando. This
was the first time we've exhibited at LDI since 1994 and it was a huge
success. Not only did we meet a lot of great people but one of our
products, the ProPlus Crossover Fullbody Harness, also won the ESTA Members
Choice Award for Widget of the Year.
And
finally, it's that time of year again. Time for Menorahs and Christmas
trees, Dreidels, Carrot Cake, Latkes and eggnog. (Hopefully not all at
the same time.) It's a time of reflection on the year gone by and a
hopeful look toward the future. It seems that this year people are reaching
out a little more than in the past, checking in with friends and colleagues,
making sure everyone is doing OK. This is one of the happy byproducts of
a tough year and I, for one, hope that these feelings remain long after the
economy has recovered.
It's also a time for us to thank those who've helped us throughout the year;
our customers and our contractors, our installers and our inspectors. As they
say, without you we wouldn't be where we are and I wouldn't be here writing
this note. (I'd be out looking for a job)
So, from all of us here at Sapsis Rigging, Ildelis Cruz, Sarah Gowan, Chris
Harris, Daryll John, Lisa May, Daniel Porter, Jeff Prorok, Bill, Mike and
Garrett Sapsis and Billy Williams, please accept our deepest thanks for your
friendship and support over the past year. We wish you all peace, health
and happiness in the coming year.
Be well.
Bill

Sapsis Rigging wins the ESTA Members Choice Best Widget Award at LDI.
By an overwhelming margin the SRI ProPlus Crossover Harness won the Best Widget Award. The voting is done by the ESTA membership who attended LDI. "I'm very happy with the award", commented Bill Sapsis. "This was a vote by our peers which makes this award all the more meaningful to me. People recognize our commitment to safety and have told us they like the products we have shown."
Ildelis Cruz and Sarah Gowan are the ones who really deserve this award. They have both worked very hard to make the ProPlus Fall Arrest line a reality.
