Sapsis Rigging
Greetings from Uncle Bill

With the USITT Conference just around the corner, I'd like to take a minute and fill you in on what we've got up our sleeves for this year's expo.

ProPlus Fall ProtectionThe really big news is that we'll be launching a new line of Fall Protection equipment. The new line is called the SRI ProPlus Fall Protection System and encompasses harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, carabiners, retractables; everything you will need to stay safe on the job. This is something I've wanted to do for a while and it's finally coming around.  Ildelis Cruz, Sarah Gowan and I have been working really hard to make this happen in time for the conference.   The gear came in yesterday and I must say, it looks great.  All of the harnesses are black, of course and they fit really well. I think everyone, men and women alike, will be happy with what we've put together.

I brought out the line for two reasons.  There isn't really anyone out there specializing in fall protection AND the entertainment industry the way Sapsis Rigging, Inc. has for the last 20+ years so it made sense for us take this step.  Additionally, there's no one taking the new ANSI Z359-2007 standards as seriously as SRI.  I'm very proud to say that all of our ProPlus equipment meets the new ANSI Z359-2007 standards.

In an effort to promote the ProPlus line, I'll be making a fool of myself for the first time at the new Products Showcase.  (It's my first time at the Showcase.  I've made a fool of myself plenty of times in plenty of places) Also for the first time, we'll have actual gear in the booth.  And literature.  ( I know, what is this world coming too, right?)  We'll have ProPlus harnesses at the booth for you to check out and try on.  So please stop by booth #1222 and say hello.

HEADS Tales ThumbnailFor those one or two of you that haven't yet received a copy of my book Heads! And Tales, we'll have some in the booth.  Purchase price is $19.95. For an extra nickel I'll sign it.  Such a bargain!

Yes, we'll have the usual compliments of toys and games.  I'm not going to tell you what they are, you'll have to come see for yourself.  Booth 1222.

I'll be hosting the Stump The Rigger panel again this year.  My honored guests will be Tray Allen of James Thomas Engineering, Don Dimitroff of Columbus McKinnon and Eric McAfee from J. R. Clancy, Inc.  This will be the second year we offer the Jack Suesse Memorial Stump The Rigger trophy.  Jack was an amazing individual and it's an honor to be able to keep his memory alive with this trophy.  Carla Richters of Dartmouth College won the trophy last year and she has not only promised to bring it back but also to vigorously defend her title.  So do your homework and come prepared to stump one of us on Saturday morning  10:00 - 11:20.  Rumor has it I'll have a new Hawaiian shirt.

Long Reach Long RidersAnd last, but certainly not least, the perennial Long Reach Long Rider raffle benefiting the ESTA Foundation's Behind the Scenes program will take place on Saturday afternoon.  We always have a lot of fun with this event.  A bunch of the LRLR folk will be there and it's all for a great cause. You can see a list of prizes on the Long Reach Long Riders website  Tickets will be available throughout the show and cost $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00

If you're coming to USITT, please stop by the booth (#1222) say hello, play with the toys and try on the new ProPlus harnesses. If you can't make it to the conference, not to worry.   The SRI website has the ProPlus line on it along with all the other goodies you expect from Sapsis Rigging.

Thanks,

Bill
